White Bird Residents Answer the Call Through Syringa Ambulance đźš‘

After years without a functional local Quick Response Unit, White Bird now has seven trained emergency responders serving their community through Syringa Hospital Ambulance.

The team includes Ethan Blankers, Sofia Blankers, Courtney McElwain, Lia Kohler, Kelly Gray, Russell Gray and Ray Bowers. Six of the responders recently completed Emergency Medical Responder training, passed their national exams and received their state licenses.

This effort began after Syringa staff held a CPR class at the White Bird Baptist Church in April. Six community members stepped up and decided they wanted to do more to help their neighbors.

For the past several years, Ray Bowers has been the local responder in White Bird while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Now, he’ll be joined by six newly licensed EMRs, creating a stronger local response team when every second counts.

“White Bird is a very special community. It is an honor to live here and be part of it. I’m happy to answer the call to help serve and protect them. It really was not a choice; it was just in my heart to do so,” said Lia Kohler.

We’re excited to welcome these new responders to the Syringa Ambulance team and grateful for their commitment to serving the White Bird area!
