Last night, our board confirmed Sara Consentino as the new principal at Excelsior. Ms. Cosentino has been an outstanding leader as assistant principal at Cavitt. She is excited to partner with the Excelsior staff, students, and families to build upon the school's strong foundation while fostering a culture of belonging, innovation, and excellence. Please join me in welcoming her to her new role.

At Excelsior, Ms. Cosentino takes the reins from Dr. Heidi Williams who is our new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. Dr. Williams has been a dedicated leader for the past 22 years, serving as assistant superintendent of Curriculum, principal of two schools, assistant principal and teacher. She brings a deep understanding of our district and culture, and our commitment to students and staff. We are fortunate that she has chosen to serve in this new role, supporting one of our greatest strengths - our exceptional staff.

📚✨ School starts August 12 so now is the perfect time to gently ease back into routines!

After a summer of relaxed schedules, late nights and extra adventures, small changes can make a big difference. Try shifting bedtimes a little earlier, bringing back consistent morning routines, and creating a dedicated space for homework and backpacks.

For younger students, practice the basics:
- getting dressed independently
- packing their own backpack
- following a morning checklist
- opening food items and lunch boxes

For older students, encourage them to:
- set goals
- organize supplies
- think about how they want to approach the new school year

A little preparation now - and setting aside time the night before for tasks that can be completed early - can help the whole family feel confident, comfortable, and ready to start the year strong! 🌟
