Say hi to Engineer McKinley and his pup Luna! Luna is a 3 year old German Shepherd/White Swiss Shepherd Mix. McKinley says she’s a “beach girlie” that loves to spend her time out hiking, swimming, and catching some rays on the paddleboard 😎. If there’s an adventure to go on, Luna is ready!

Meet Captain Kincheloe and his buddy Roscoe! And yes, he’s named after Roscoe from Dukes of Hazard!(Kincheloe’s favorite show growing up). He is a 10 year old English Yellow Lab and unlike Chief Wolf’s Lab, he loves the water. Every night around 9pm he goes around the house picking up items to “clean” the house and tries to sway Captain Kincheloe to give him treats for it 😂

Yesterday BAT17, E17, E16, and M17 were dispatched to Folsom Lake for a boat fire with possible burn victims. E17 arrived to a fully involved boat next to a dock in the water. E17 was able to keep the boat to the shore and extinguish the flames while M17 provided medical care to a burn victim. The patient was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Say hi to Apprentice Firefighter Sweeney and his dog Murphy. Murphy is almost 4 years old and is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix. He loves cats and a good game of tug of war. Also, we’re pretty sure they get their haircuts at the same place 😂.

Meet Engineer/Paramedic Ridgeway and his pups Poppy who is 5(left) and Pebbles who is 12(right). They both love to swim and play fetch any chance they get. When Engineer Ridgeway is home, they’re his little shadows that follow him around everywhere 😊

Meet Deputy Chief Wolf and his pal Moose. Moose is a 6 year old Lab that as you can expect, is full of energy. He has had him since he was a puppy, he loves to play fetch, and to everyone’s surprise he is a Lab who DOES NOT like the water 😂

It was a busy few days for C shift at South Placer Fire. On day 1 crews were dispatched to a vegetation fire off Cavitt Stallman that was threatening a home and cell tower. SPFD crews recognized the area from previous trainings and knew which addresses would provide the best access. SPFD along with allied agencies were able to keep the fire to 5 acres and prevent any damage to the house and cell tower. The cause is under investigation.

On day 2, SPFD was dispatched to a working vegetation fire started by mowing dead grass. Two homes were under immediate threat and Placer County Sheriff began evacuation notices due to the potential of the incident. Crews were able to keep the fire to 4 acres and no homes were damaged.

PSA: if you NEED to mow, make sure it’s in the early morning and avoid the hottest part of the day. All it takes is one spark.
