43 years ago today, five young Armenians made the ultimate sacrifice in pursuit of justice for the Armenian Cause, seeking to awaken the conscience of the world and bring attention to the continued denial of the Armenian Genocide.
On July 27, 1983, Setrak Ajemian, Sarkis Abrahamian, Simon Yahniyan, Vatche Daghlian, and Ara Kuhrjulian entered the Turkish Embassy in Lisbon to confront the silence surrounding the Armenian people’s demand for justice. Their names became forever woven in the history of the Armenian struggle and a lasting symbol of commitment, courage, and national responsibility.
Their legacy reminds us that each generation carries the duty to preserve our truth and serve our nation.
Glory to the Five Heroes of Lisbon.
