🔥 A Quick Reminder from Your Rowan County Fire Marshal’s Office 🔥

Just a quick check-in to remind you that Rowan County is still under a burn ban.

This includes both the county burn ban and the North Carolina Forest Service ban, which means all outdoor burning is prohibited across the board.

We are continuing to see conditions where fires can spread quickly, and it doesn’t take much for something small to turn into a bigger incident.

👉 What this means for you:

* No burning of yard debris, trash, or natural vegetation
* No burn permits are valid at this time
*Be mindful of anything that could create sparks or open flames

This isn’t about stopping anyone from enjoying their property — it’s about protecting our community, your neighbors, and the responders who show up when things go wrong.

If you see outdoor burning, please report it so we can address it before it escalates.

We appreciate everyone doing their part to keep Rowan County safe.

— Rowan County Fire Marshal, N.C. Forest Service

Public safety starts with preparation, partnership, and training.

Today, Granite Quarry Fire Department was proud to train alongside Salisbury Fire Department at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College during mutual aid training. Opportunities like this help strengthen coordination, improve response efforts, and ensure we are always ready to serve our communities when it matters most.

We are grateful for the teamwork, shared knowledge, and commitment to excellence shown by everyone involved. Working together makes us stronger and better prepared.

Community Update – Walk for Peace

Earlier today, many of you may have noticed Granite Quarry Police officers assisting with the Walk for Peace as it passed through Rowan County.

Today the march traveled from China Grove through Salisbury and towards Spencer. Due to staffing limitations, the Spencer Police Department requested assistance with crowd control and traffic safety. Chief Taylor coordinated with area law enforcement and organized a GQPD officers to assist Spencer to ensure the event remained safe and orderly.

This type of mutual aid is something our departments routinely provide for one another. In fact, Spencer PD assisted Granite Quarry in the past when we were short-staffed, and we were glad to return that support.

We also want to reassure everyone that Granite Quarry and Faith remained fully covered throughout the day.

THANK YOU to ALL of our officers for stepping up to serve, and THANK YOU to our community for your continued trust and support.

High School Fire Academy students recently completed search and rescue training exercises at an abandoned structure scheduled for a controlled burn on Saturday, January 24. This hands-on experience allowed students to apply critical skills in a real-world environment while strengthening teamwork and situational awareness.

Thank you to the Town of Granite Quarry for providing this valuable training opportunity. For additional information about the High School Fire Academy, contact Chad Moss at [email protected].
