Please join us in welcoming Mr. William Howard as the new Assistant Principal of Byrd Elementary School!

Mr. Howard is entering his third year as an Assistant Principal and his twelfth year in education. Throughout his career, he has served in four elementary schools across Aiken County School District and Sumter School District. He has also taught and coached at both the middle and high school levels, providing him with valuable experience supporting students across a wide range of ages and backgrounds.

Most recently, Mr. Howard served as Assistant Principal at Sumter High School. He is excited to become part of the Byrd community and looks forward to building strong relationships with our students, staff, families, and community while continuing to support academic excellence and personal growth for all learners.

Please help us give Mr. Howard a warm Byrd welcome as he begins this new chapter with us. We are excited about the leadership, experience, and passion he will bring to our school!

We currently have 57 books marked lost and only 1 school day left!!

No classes were marked off the list today!
Whose class will be next?

ALL checked out library books have been marked lost and the total cost to replace all 57 books is currently $938.76.

After tomorrow, May 28th, all lost book fees will be added to your child's PowerSchool account.

Please continue checking backpacks, bedrooms, cars, and bookshelves for missing books and if found students can return them in the fall or you can bring them to the front office this summer.

Graduation week is here, and we can’t wait to celebrate the Class of 2026 at their commencement ceremonies being held at USC Aiken's Convocation Center!

To help graduation attendees enjoy a smooth, stress-free day, please remember that there will be metal detection upon arrival. We kindly ask that you review the attached graphic for prohibited items, such as bags, balloons, and outside food, so you can leave those items safely in your vehicle before heading to the entrance.

Additionally, because the lobby can become crowded after the ceremony, please plan to meet your graduate outside the venue once the event concludes.

Thank you so much for your help in keeping this milestone safe, smooth, and unforgettable for everyone!

📚✨ FREE BOOK DAY! ✨📚

Today, students had the opportunity to visit the library and pick out FREE books to keep for the summer! ☀️🌴

My goal was to encourage students to continue growing as readers throughout summer vacation by helping them find a “just right” book they were excited to read. It was so much fun watching students explore, discover new favorites, and get excited about summer reading adventures! ❤️📖
