BOOK DONATION GUIDELINES
The Grant Public Library accepts:
New or gently used hardcover and paperback books
Media materials (DVD, CD audiobooks) in good condition
The Library CAN NOT USE the following materials:
Cassette tapes
VHS tapes
Adult nonfiction
Encyclopedias
Textbooks
Dictionaries
Books that show damage, including highlighting and/or handwriting, water damage, mold, dust, and animal dam
age
Books that smell strongly of cigarette smoke or pets
Donations are Tax Deductible
At your request, Library staff will provide you with a letter of receipt that you may fill out for tax purposes. Bringing Donations to the Library
The Library accepts donations only when the open
PLEASE, DO NOT PLACE DONATIONS IN, ON, UNDER, OR AROUND THE BOOK RETURN OR BESIDE THE ENTRANCE. Please bring your donations in small boxes or bags that can be easily carried. (Due to OSHA regulations, staff are not allowed to lift heavy boxes.) Bring donated items in boxes/bins/bags you do not want returned
What does the Grant Public Library do with donations? All donations are greatly appreciated. The library adds donated items to the collection, sells them in library book sale room, donates them to other nonprofit agencies, or recycles them. The money raised through sales and cash donations helps to fund programs and/or the purchase of books and other materials. What can I do with materials the library cannot accept? Most thrift stores accept books and other materials as donations. Damaged books can be recycled as mixed paper. Directions to the recycling collection site:
From the library proceed along 6th Street West (away from Main Street)
Take the first right onto 1st Avenue West
The collection site is on the left. Place books in the paper recycling bins.
