Women's Crisis Support Team

Women's Crisis Support Team "Dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault in Josephine County through intervention, prevention, education and safe shelter."

WCST’s mission is to end the cycle of domestic violence and sexual assault through intervention, prevention, education and safe shelter. We provide victim advocacy, safe shelter, a 24/7 crisis line and more. In 1998 WCST opened the Talsunne House shelter to house up to 12 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children. Each year approximately 100 women and 112 children use our s

afe shelter. Prevention is another aspect of WCST’s mission. Our community educators offer school and community support groups and presentations with emphasis on preventing physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. WCST has evolved into one of the community’s most active and respected non-profit organizations.

🚨 SCAM ALERT—PLEASE BE ON GUARD! 🚨

Today, WCST was targeted by one of the most convincing bank scams we have ever encountered.

The scammers spoofed our bank’s phone number, making the call appear legitimate. They claimed someone had fraudulently accessed our online banking and, while still on the phone, sent an official-looking alert—complete with our bank’s email banner—to our director’s email address, which they already had. Nearly every detail checked out.

What stopped the scam? We refused to log into our bank through the very legitimate looking link provided in their email.

If you receive a call like this, pause. Don’t click links or share verification codes. Hang up and contact your bank directly using a trusted phone number.

Scammers rely on fear and urgency. Take a breath, verify independently, and please share this warning with others.

WCST cares about our community. Stay safe! 💜

On National Dog Day, as we celebrate the unconditional love our four-legged family members bring us, it’s vital to remember that our beloved pets often share the quiet burden of domestic abuse. Behind closed doors, animals are frequently caught in the crossfire of unsafe homes—89% of women in abusive relationships report that their pets were threatened, harmed, or even killed by their partner.

Cruelty to animals and violence toward humans—whether it is child abuse, elder abuse, or domestic violence—are deeply interconnected. Animals rely on us entirely for safety, making them vulnerable targets used to control or inflict emotional pain on the people who love them.

If you or someone you know is navigating an unsafe relationship, please know you don't have to leave a beloved pet behind to find safety. Many organizations, confidential hotlines, and local shelters can help you create a safe escape plan for both you and your companion animals.
