Grants Fire & Rescue would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the incredible wildland fire resources who helped make our community's Fourth of July celebration safe and successful! 🇺🇸

A special thank you to:
🚒 Mt. Taylor Ranger District
🚒 Engine 623
🚒 UTV with Engine 623
🚒 Duty Officer Matt (Oregon)
🚒 Grayback Forestry and their 20-person wildland firefighter crew
from Oregon
🚒 Engine 656 – Colorado
🚒 Engine 963 – Idaho
🚒 Engine 644 – California

Because of these dedicated men and women, Grants Fire & Rescue had the privilege of hosting additional firefighting resources from across the western United States during one of the busiest fire danger periods of the year. Their commitment, professionalism, and willingness to serve our community helped ensure a safe and enjoyable Independence Day for our residents and visitors.

In total, 36 additional fire personnel were strategically monitoring the City of Grants throughout the Fourth of July evening, providing an exceptional level of wildfire preparedness and emergency response capability. This is an extraordinary resource that many communities simply do not have the privilege of receiving.

We are incredibly grateful for the partnerships we share with the U.S. Forest Service and our cooperating wildland fire agencies. Your dedication to protecting lives, property, and our community does not go unnoticed.

From all of us at Grants Fire & Rescue—thank you for your service, sacrifice, and commitment to keeping Grants safe.

Grants Fire & Rescue extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the families, friends, and fellow firefighters mourning, the tragic loss of the three firefighters who gave their lives while battling the devastating fires along the Utah-Colorado border.

These brave firefighters answered the call without hesitation, putting themselves in harms way to protect lives, communities, and our natural resources. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten.

Today, we stand with the entire wildland firefighting community as we honor these heroes and the ultimate sacrifice they made in service to others. Please keep all firefighters and first responders currently working these dangerous fires in your thoughts and prayers. Rest easy, heroes. We have the watch from here.
