NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 2026! 🚓🐕‍🦺🚒 🚑 🚁
The Grantsburg Police and Fire Departments hosted our annual National Night Out on August 4th and we had an amazing time! We offered a free meal, bouncy houses, kids games, music, a medallion hunt, 20 informational booths, prize drawings, helicopter landing, emergency vehicle displays, Robot-TASER-K9 demos, song trivia and so much more! Thank you to all of our first responders, booth sponsors, prize donors, volunteers, and to the wonderful folks that attended for making 2026 another awesome year! We are all so grateful for the support we receive from our incredible community and hope you had a great time with us! Enjoy our event pics and drop yours in the comments!

On July 29th, 2026, at approximately 9:38 a.m. Burnett County Dispatch received a call of a possible physical assault in Grantsburg Township. Burnett County Deputies met the reporting party, a 32-year-old female, at a different location. She reported a physical altercation between her and an acquaintance, a 26-year-old male. The female had obvious physical injuries and she stated that the male had introduced a rifle into the altercation and reportedly fired two rounds in the home.

Burnett County Dispatch and Patrol Deputies were unable to contact the male via phone and a perimeter was established. An Emergency Response Team (ERT) call out was made. Sawyer County, Washburn County and Burnett County ERT responded and staged near the residence. A ping of the male’s cell phone showed it was in this general area. Contact was attempted multiple times including using drones and a robot. Gas was used in an attempt to extract the male without a violent confrontation. After nobody exited the home, the home was physically cleared by law enforcement.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. a deceased dog was located inside the residence. The male was found a short time later in the house. The male was deceased and it appeared to be from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Nobody else was located within the home.

Barron County Sheriff’s Office was requested to investigate this incident. The investigation is ongoing and no names will be released at this time.

We would like to thank North Ambulance, Grantsburg Police Department, Siren Police Department, Sawyer Sheriff’s Office, Washburn County Sheriff’s Office, Barron County Sheriff’s Office, and Burnett County Medical Examiner’s Office for assistance.
