I went back to Granville expecting a ghost town and walked straight into 1955. 🚗

This little river town in Jackson County nearly dried up after the Cumberland was dammed and the highway moved on, but the folks who stayed rebuilt Main Street into a living piece of the past. Soda fountain, old hardware store, Sunday suppers and all. People call it Tennessee's Mayberry, and they are not exaggerating.

Standing on that sidewalk I felt like a stranger and a local at the very same time.

Which small Tennessee town still feels frozen in the best kind of yesterday to you?
