What We Know -

Currently, there are 42 customers without power in Grapevine. There is still a need to conserve, electricity, gas, and water to help our neighbors.

What We Are Doing:
Emergency Water Access Due to Busted Pipes.
There has been no interruption to the City’s water supply. However, we know that many of you may have chosen to turn off your water due to busted pipes. If you have water containers you would like to fill, all five Grapevine Fire Stations will be open for that purpose. If the Fire Company is out, they will usually be back shortly. If you have electricity, you can also use snow to flush toilets.
Station 1 - 701 Turner Road
Station2 - 3098 Dove Road
Station 3 - 3100 Timberline Drive
Station 4 - 4500 Merlot Avenue
Station 5 - 2801 Grapevine Mills Boulevard

Trash and Recycling
Because of poor road conditions, trash and recycling will resume on Monday.

Dumpsters for Debris Removal
Due to poor road conditions, most dumpsters will not be delivered tomorrow. We currently have dumpsters at the following location and will be adding more as soon as they can be delivered.

422 Church Street (the former Senior Activities Center).

The REC Will Be Open to Residents Non-Members, Library Community Room Open for Warming
We realize that many of you are still dealing with power and water issues related to internal damage in your residence but the need for overnight accommodations has been resolved and the warming shelter at the REC will close this afternoon. Tomorrow, the community room at the Grapevine Public Library will be open from 8am-5p as an option to charge devices or just get warm. The REC will reopen for regular activities on Saturday at 7am and will welcome resident non-members who may need the facility to shower, get a cup of coffee, or just charge your phone.

Contractors Registered With City
Some residents have asked for a list of the contractors registered to work in Grapevine That list is available at https://app.mygov.us/lr/citizen/search.php?citiesID=325&modulesID=1 . This is not meant to be an endorsement of any of these providers, just options available. Governor Abbott has issued an order that will allow plumbers from out of state to work in Texas as well. For more information about hiring a plumber visit https://tsbpe.texas.gov/consumer-information/.

Hotel Availability
We have had questions regarding hotel availability as people begin to make repairs on their homes. The Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau is tracking hotel inventory as it changes and power is restored to properties. At this time, availability is very limited. For more information, please visit grapevinetexasusa.com/hotelupdate/.

Freeze Related Water Leaks
If your house has been without power for an extended time, the pipes may begin to thaw and sometimes burst or sustain leaks at that time. For information on how to minimize damage in this situation, please visit tdi.texas.gov/consumer/storms/recoverytips.html.

If you don’t have heat/power this might be worth trying. My parents tried it and it’s working for them. A lot of thermostats have battery options - take off the thermostat cover and put in batteries. I guess it’s for backup if you lose power. Check yours out and see.

FEBRUARY 16 UPDATE:

GCISD schools and district facilities will be closed the remainder of the week due to inclement winter weather, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages at some campuses and other facilities. Additionally, all practices, online classes and activities have been canceled.

Additionally, as of now, the District is unable to provide curbside meal service this week, due to hazardous driving conditions for families and staff, and rolling power outages which have also impacted some district facilities. The forecast of additional sleet, snow and icing beginning Tuesday evening will only further impact driving conditions as we move throughout the week. We understand that many families rely on this service and we will continue to monitor weather conditions, and if we are able to provide meals on a makeup date, we will notify families as soon as possible.

Many families may still be experiencing prolonged power outages as a result of the weather and statewide rolling outages. The Grapevine Police Department and the City of Grapevine have announced the REC of Grapevine and the Grapevine Church of Christ located at 525 N Park Blvd. are open as a Warming Shelter for the City for anyone who needs it. For more information, please call 817-410-4455 or 817-410-8127. Additionally, the Colleyville Library, located at 100 Main Street, is open as a warming station for anyone who is without power.

________________________________________

We know many people in our community are experiencing power outages. We do not know when power will be restored, or when the next outage could occur. We want to remind you our City has opened a Warming Shelter at The REC (1175 Municipal Way) and urge you to call either 817.410.4455 or 817.410.8127 with any questions. We have seen advice for energy and heat conservation from both Atmos and Oncor, and are sharing them with you here. As you do your best to stay warm and safe, please remember to check on your elderly neighbors, and make sure they are aware of our warming shelter, too. We will get through this by helping each other.

Have you ever noticed the blue bin in the circle drive near the gym doors? It’s a World Wear Donation Bin! World Wear now pays 12¢ per pound for every pound of shoes, clothing, purses, wallets, belts, hats, caps, backpacks, toys and stuffed animals that are placed in the bin. We haven’t been able to fundraise this year like we have in the past, but we still have our normal expenses, so every penny counts.
