A little over a year ago, WM launched curbside food waste collection to help Grass Valley and unincorporated Nevada County meet SB 1383 goals and keep organic materials out of landfills.

And thanks to this community, the results after just one year are worth celebrating:

✨12,000+ tons of organics diverted from landfills
✨ 24% increase in organics diversion
✨ 26.5 million pounds of organic waste transformed into compost or mulch

None of this would be possible without the incredible support of local leaders and residents. Your commitment is helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build a more sustainable future.

Our drivers are out servicing today's routes! Due to current road and safety conditions, some customers may experience delays or missed service.

* Commercial customers missed yesterday — drivers are doing their best to catch up today, weather permitting.

*Residential customers missed yesterday or today — we plan to service this Saturday, weather permitting.

Due to inclement weather, the North San Juan and Washington Transfer Stations are currently closed. Service will be affected today due to unsafe conditions that prevent our drivers from operating.

Our team is actively assessing the situation and will notify customers of any potential service interruptions for tomorrow as soon as more information becomes available.

Keep our communities, workers, and environment safe!

🚫 Never place batteries or household hazardous waste in your curbside carts. When it's time to say goodbye, place them in a clear bag and:

✅Drop them off at the McCourtney Road Transfer Station, or
✅Set them on top of your recycling cart on your regular collection day.

Your sorting decision can save lives!
