Hunger Action Month Is Here!

September is Hunger Action Month, a time to raise awareness about food insecurity and, most importantly, take action.

Here in Nevada County, families, seniors, and individuals are facing growing challenges putting food on the table. With changes to CalFresh potentially impacting thousands of our neighbors, community support is more important than ever.

There are so many ways you can help:

📣 Share the word about hunger in our community

Every action matters. Together, we can make sure our neighbors have access to nutritious food with dignity and compassion. 💛💛

LIMITED HOURS ON LABOR DAY!
IFM will be OPEN on Labor Day, Monday Sept. 7th with limited hours from 10am-12pm!

A super easy, environmentally friendly way to help the good work we do at IFM is to collect your recyclables and bring them to Peace Lutheran Church the last Saturday of every month!

We are so grateful to our volunteers and partners for making this possible!

Last Saturday of every month at Peace Lutheran Church – 828 W Main St, Grass Valley (weather permitting!), 9a-12p

Bring your CLEAN & SORTED recyclables to help feed our community!

CRV bottles & cans (aluminum, plastic, glass)

Plastics #1, #2, #5 — check the triangle & sort separately
Paper/plastic grocery bags & cardboard egg cartons

Please sort aluminum, glass, and plastic separately before drop-off.

Don't forget Last Friday Supper at Grass Valley United Methodist Church on August 28th from 5:30p-6:30p! All are welcome and they will be serving Pasties with live music from The Strum Bums!

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Our furry friends are family, too! For many of the families we serve at IFM, keeping pets fed can be a challenge when household budgets are tight.

Donating pet food to IFM is a great way to support our community. Please consider picking up an extra bag or can of pet food and donating it to IFM. Every donation makes a difference! 💛💛

Mark you calendars for Last Friday Supper at Grass Valley United Methodist Church on August 28th from 5:30p-6:30p! All are welcome and they will be serving Pasties!!

Pasties were brought to Grass Valley by the Cornish miners who settled here during the Gold Rush and have become a local staple. Miners took pasties underground because the thick pastry kept the contents warm for hours and made for an easy lunch.

A huge thank you to Movement Mortgage and HomeCraft Cabinet Company for spending a day volunteering with us at IFM! 💛💛

These amazing volunteers jumped right in, packaging food, preparing grocery orders, greeting our guests, and working alongside our amazing IFM volunteers.

We are especially grateful to Heidi and Matt Seavers, longtime IFM supporters, for choosing to spend Movement Mortgage’s Impact Day serving with us. We love having them as part of the IFM family and were so happy to welcome everyone for a busy day providing wholesome groceries to our neighbors! 🥦

Thank you all for your energy, enthusiasm, incredible generosity, and willingness to give back to our community. We hope you had as much fun as we did!
