On Tuesday morning our entire team gathered for our annual Back-to-School All-Staff Meeting—an incredible morning dedicated to connection, encouragement, and shared purpose. There is nothing quite like getting all of our passionate educators and staff in one room to kick off a new academic year.

The Nevada County Superintendent of Schools is officially energized and fully prepared to serve our local districts, students, and parents. From specialized classroom support and professional development to family engagement tools, we are here to ensure every student has the resources they need to thrive.

We can’t wait to see all the incredible achievements, growth, and moments of joy this school year will bring. Welcome back, everyone!

What a kickoff to the Nevada County Fair!

Wednesday was our annual Scholar Day at the Fair, and our hearts are officially full! ❤️ Countless smiles, endless laughter, and true Nevada County community spirit made the first day of the fair an absolute success. There is truly nothing better than seeing the faces of our incredible students, dedicated educators, and supportive families out enjoying the sunshine together. ☀️🎡

We were thrilled to have even more of our amazing staff on-site this year, including friendly faces from our Special Education team, P.A.R.T.N.E.R.S Family Resource Centers of Nevada County and John Muir Charter Virtual Academy! Having everyone together made the day extra bright.

Our beloved outgoing Superintendent, Scott W. Lay, was on duty for his "final" treat handout to Nevada County students! End of an era, but oh-so-sweet.

We were also so excited to have our incoming Superintendent, John Baggett join in on the fun and meet so many wonderful families!

Scholar Day is easily one of our absolute favorite traditions of the year. Connecting with all of you outside the classroom is what it’s all about!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hi, grab a cookie, and share a smile. We’re already counting down the days until next year!
