October always comes with so many changes and is such an exciting month in so many ways but also a time that is very near and dear to this community. As we watch the leaves and weather start to turn, we also take today, October 1st, to promote the biggest change our department sees each year; PINK. Today marks the beginning of October but most importantly, the start of the Pink Patch Project, where we partner with our surrounding Nevada County agencies to raise money for breast cancer funding and awareness in support of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and the Tahoe Forest Hospital Foundations. You will see us proudly wearing our pink patch uniforms, driving our pink decal decked patrol cars, and raising money for this necessary cause. You can find us at many of the local events, selling patches, coins, shirts, sweatshirts, hats (new item!) and more. Check out the attached flyer to see where we will be and how you can participate.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who stepped forward in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken that day, the families forever changed, and the bravery and selflessness that followed.

May we continue to carry forward the spirit of unity, compassion, and service that brought our nation together in the days that followed.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
