Highway 20 to I-80 closure has been extended through 6 am on Friday September 4.
Passenger vehicles use Highway 174 to Colfax.
Big Rigs use Highway 49 to Bell Rd in Auburn.

Help to share the news ... eastbound State Route 20 IS STILL CLOSED at the junction with I-80 in Nevada County. Crews anticipate reopening 6 a.m. Friday, September 4. Continue using Hwy 49 and Hwy 174 (passenger vehicles only) as a detour but be prepared for more lane closures once you connect to I-80.

Construction schedules are always changing and this project is no exception. New start time for the eastbound State Route 20 closure scheduled next week.

🚲🚨 Pedaling to School with the Nevada City Bike Bus! 🚨🚲

Friday was a great morning for the Grass Valley CHP to trade four wheels for two! Our officers joined the Nevada City Bike Bus for a fun ride to school—and we had a blast! 👮‍♂️🚴‍♀️

Of course, we couldn’t show up without talking a little bike safety along the way. From wearing a properly fitted helmet to being predictable, following the rules of the road, and watching out for vehicles, a safe ride is a successful ride.

But most importantly, we got to spend some time with our local kids and community, share some laughs, and remind everyone that getting to school safely can be just as fun as getting there!

All road closures due to the Clover Fire have been lifted.

CHP has road closures at Clover Valley Rd. and Fay Rd. and Clover Valley Rd. and Rainbow Rd. These closures are expected to be in place through the evening.

Use caution, please avoid the area. Hard closure Rainbow Rd at Carrie Dr in the Alta Sierra area.

3:40PM: All evacuation orders have been lifted. Road closures are now in effect at Clover Valley Rd. and Fay Rd. and Clover Valley Rd. and Rainbow Rd. These closures are expected to be in place through the evening. Please remain vigilant of emergency personnel in the area.

2:37PM: Hard road closures are in effect at Rainbow Rd. and Carrie Rd. and Clover Valley Rd. and Brewer Rd.

2:09PM: A temporary evacuation point for people has been established at Magnolia Intermediate School, located at 22431 Kingston Lane, Grass Valley, CA 95949. Children evacuated from Alta Sierra Elementary are being transported to Magnolia. A temporary evacuation shelter has been established for animals at the Nevada County Horseman, located at 10600 Bubbling Wells Rd, Grass Valley, CA 95945.

- The Nevada County Sheriff's Office has issued an EVACUATION ORDER for zone NCO-E048 on 08/21/2026 at 1:45 PM for a wildfire in the area of Clover Valley Rd and Rainbow Rd. EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY. Check https://protect.genasys.com/ for updates and available shelter locations

Community engagement! This High school Junior showed leadership among his friends and took the challenge of push-ups against a CHP Officer for some cool swag. Great job! Have a great school year as well.
