Dolly Parton has spent a lifetime giving to others—through her music, her generosity, her philanthropy, and her unwavering kindness. From inspiring generations with her songs to promoting literacy through the Imagination Library, her impact reaches far beyond the stage. She has truly been a blessing to countless people around the world.

In this touching video shared by Neal K. Shah, we see another side of Dolly's story: her role as a caregiver for her husband. Like so many caregivers, she devoted herself to the person she loved and, in the process, neglected some of her own health needs.

Her experience is a powerful reminder that even the strongest, most giving people need support and care themselves. Caregiving is an act of love, but it should not come at the expense of our own well-being.

As we reflect on Dolly's remarkable life and the joy, hope, and generosity she has shared with the world, we can also honor her message by remembering to care for ourselves while caring for others.

Thank you, Dolly Parton, for the music, the compassion, the inspiration, and for helping shine a light on the realities of caregiving.

Today is Relaxation Day—a reminder that rest is not a reward for finishing everything on your to-do list. It's an important part of maintaining your well-being.

As caregivers, we often focus so much on the needs of others that we forget to care for ourselves. Yet taking time to rest, recharge, and replenish your spirit allows you to continue supporting those you love with greater patience, compassion, and resilience.

As Eleanor Brownn reminds us, “You cannot serve from an empty vessel.”

Whether it's enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, taking a walk, reading a book, listening to music, or simply sitting in peaceful silence, we encourage you to take a few moments for yourself today.

💙 On this Relaxation Day, give yourself permission to pause. Your well-being matters, too.

Some seasons of life can feel overwhelming, uncertain, or heavy. When you're walking through a difficult chapter, it can be hard to imagine brighter days ahead.

Sri Aurobindo's words remind us that even our darkest nights can prepare us for new beginnings, growth, and hope. Challenges do not last forever, and light can often be found just beyond the horizon.

If you are caring for a loved one, remember that you are not alone. Support, connection, and hope are available, even when the path ahead feels unclear.

💙 Keep going. Keep believing. Dawn is coming.

Family caregivers give so much of themselves every day—often putting their own needs last. A few hours of support can make a world of difference.

One Source Empowering Caregivers is seeking compassionate volunteers willing to dedicate just 4 hours a week to provide respite, encouragement, and hope to a local caregiver. Through training, ongoing support, and meaningful connections, you'll help caregivers find time to rest, recharge, and care for themselves.

Together, we can strengthen our community by supporting those who spend their days caring for others.

Caregivers often give so much of themselves that they forget to care for the one person everyone else depends on—themselves.

Burnout isn't a sign that you've failed. It's a sign that you've been carrying too much for too long.

Taking time to rest, ask for help, or simply pause isn't selfish—it's essential. When you care for yourself, you're better able to continue caring for those you love.

Caring for others often comes so naturally that we forget to ask ourselves what we need.

Sometimes the kindness, patience, encouragement, and compassion we freely give to others are the very things our own hearts are asking for.

Today, take a moment to check in with yourself. Rest when you need to. Ask for help when you need it. Show yourself the same grace you offer so generously to those you care for.

💚 You matter, too.

In the midst of caregiving and life's many responsibilities, it's easy to believe that joy must wait until everything else is done. But joy is not something we have to earn, purchase, or postpone.

It can be found in a quiet moment, a shared smile, a favorite song, a walk outdoors, or a simple act of kindness. Even on difficult days, small moments of joy can help restore our spirit and remind us that we matter too.

Today, give yourself permission to notice and embrace the moments that bring you peace, comfort, and happiness. Joy is not a luxury—it is part of what sustains us.

💛 What is one small thing that brings you joy today?

💙 Caregiving comes from a place of love, compassion, and dedication. But even the most caring hearts need rest, support, and time to recharge.

Setting healthy boundaries isn't selfish—it's essential. When caregivers honor their own needs, they are better able to provide sustainable care without becoming overwhelmed or burned out.

Remember: You deserve the same kindness, patience, and care that you give so freely to others.

Take a moment today to ask yourself: What do I need right now?
