🚒🐾 We were honored to assist with the rescue of this sweet pup after she found herself at the bottom of a ravine following an unexpected adventure.

Thank you to Jones County Animal Services, our crew and everyone who worked together to safely reunite her with her family. This rescue is a great example of what can be accomplished when agencies come together to serve our community—whether it’s helping people or our four-legged friends.

Today, the City of Gray Fire Department is conducting the final practical portion of our annual Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) for all apparatus drivers. Training is taking place in the parking lot of Jones County High School and throughout the City of Gray.

This practical evaluation follows 8 hours of classroom instruction and a written examination designed to assess each driver’s knowledge and understanding of emergency vehicle operations.

During the hands-on portion, firefighters are evaluated on a variety of driving skills and maneuvers, including serpentine navigation, diminishing clearance, 180-degree turnarounds, a 150-foot alley course, and backing exercises simulating garages and loading docks. Drivers complete these challenges in both forward and reverse operations, in addition to an over-the-road driving course.

This annual training serves as an important refresher for critical driving skills and helps ensure our firefighters maintain the highest level of emergency response readiness. Most importantly, it enhances the safety of our personnel and the community we serve.

By conducting this training annually, the City of Gray Fire Department continues to uphold a Class 3 ISO rating, benefiting the residents and businesses of Gray through improved fire protection standards.

The City of Gray Fire Department was honored to be part of the Public Safety Appreciation Day at The Barn at Wolf Creek Farms.

Events like this are a great reminder of the strong support system we have throughout our community and among our fellow first responders. Our crew had a great time enjoying the activities, sharing laughs with other agencies, and spending time with the families and friends.

We appreciate everyone who played a role in putting together such a successful event, especially Sincerity Lodge No. 430 F&AM of Gray and the many local businesses and community members who continue to support public safety personnel across Jones County.

We would also like to give a special thank you to the Jones County Pilot Club for their generous donation to our agency and for the continued support they show not only to first responders, but to the entire Jones County community. Everything they do to serve and uplift our community is truly appreciated.

We are proud to stand alongside the dedicated men and women who serve our community each day and thankful for the opportunity to be a part of such a special event. 🚒🔥🚑🚓
