Traffic Advisory: Slide Repair on US 60 in Carter County Begins Tomorrow FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (April 23, 2026) – Slide repairs begin on US 60 between KY 3296 (Trumbo Road) and Douglas Hollow Road, at mile point .8, Friday April 24, in Carter County.

The lane closure is weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Motorists should expect automated flagged traffic during working hours. Motorists can use KY 174 as an alternate route.

Road work schedules may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.

Highway crews will be flagging traffic around the intersection of KY 7 and KY 773 in Carter County, beginning tomorrow, April 21 through Friday, April 24. Crews will be working from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Plan for additional travel time through this route.

Our flags are being lowered to half-mast in honor of County Clerk Mike Johnston. I am asking everyone to join me in this recognition of his life, by doing the same, through the weekend. The Courthouse will raise our flags Monday, April 6.

Our hearts are broken with the passing of our County Clerk, Mike Johnston. Mike was truly a remarkable man-one who carried both his faith and his responsibilities with humility, strength, and integrity. In his role as County Clerk, he led not only with wisdom, but with a servant’s heart, always reflecting the character of a Godly man.
His life was a testimony of faith in action. Whether through his leadership, his kindness, or the way he treated others with dignity and respect, he made a lasting impact on so many lives. It is clear that his legacy will live on not only in the work he accomplished, but in the countless people he inspired along the way. Mike has been a huge mentor to me in the past 3 years. I cannot express my appreciation for him and our friendship. He truly cared about the people in this county.
Our hearts go out to Debbie, his family and all the office staff during this difficult time.
