🚑❤️ It’s EMS Week and today is ! ❤️🚑

Stop by and see Baywood Rescue Squad set up at Baywood Market as we help spread awareness about the importance of Hands-Only CPR.

A cardiac emergency can happen anytime, anywhere — and knowing what to do in those first few minutes can save the life of a family member, friend, neighbor, or complete stranger. Hands-Only CPR is simple, effective, and something anyone can learn.

✔️ Call 911
✔️ Push hard and fast in the center of the chest
✔️ Keep going until help arrives

We’re proud to serve our community and help educate others during EMS Week. Come talk with us, ask questions, and learn how YOU can help save a life.

Paramedic Josh Booker was named one of the 2026 NC Paramedic Competition Champions! He also volunteers at BSRS!

Congratulations Josh! We are proud to have you on our department!

Please join us in congratulating Paramedics Josh Booker and Josh LeCrone on being named the 2026 North Carolina Paramedic Competition Champions at the NC EMS Expo.

This recognition reflects more than a single event—it represents the discipline, knowledge, and commitment to excellence that they bring to the field every day. Competing at this level takes preparation, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure, all of which they demonstrated exceptionally well.

They have not only represented Surry County with professionalism, but they have also showcased the caliber of providers serving our community and our profession across North Carolina.

We are proud of their accomplishment.

Well done, gentlemen.

Today, we pause to honor the life and legacy of Martha Murray—a true pillar of our organization and community.

Martha was a charter member of Baywood Search and Rescue Squad, helping lay the foundation for what our organization stands for today. Through her years of dedicated service, she embodied the very spirit of volunteerism—selfless, steadfast, and always willing to serve others in their time of need.

Her commitment to search and rescue was more than just service—it was a calling. Martha’s legacy lives on in every call answered, every life touched, and every volunteer who continues the mission she helped build.

To her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside her, we extend our deepest condolences. Please know that her impact will never be forgotten.

We have the watch from here.

Martha Murray, age 94, passed away peacefully in Abingdon, Virginia. She was born on August 29, 1931, in Ennice, North Carolina to Ola Andrews Smith and Emmett Early Smith. She spent most of her life in the Baywood community she loved so deeply. Martha devoted her life to caring for
