A Message to the Citizens of Graysville

It is with great pride and confidence that we recognize Julius Gamblin as the newly promoted Chief of Police for the City of Graysville.

Chief Gamblin’s promotion comes following the retirement of Chief Marbury, and it represents a natural progression in a career built on dedication, integrity, leadership, and service. Having previously served as Assistant Chief, Chief Gamblin brings valuable experience, knowledge, and a deep understanding of the Graysville community to this important position.

What truly sets Chief Gamblin apart is not only his experience in law enforcement, but the character he demonstrates both on and off the job. He is a man who believes in treating people with dignity and respect, standing on what is right, and leading with honesty and fairness. His faith in God is an important part of who he is and serves as a foundation for the values he brings to his leadership and his commitment to serving others.

As Chief, Julius Gamblin understands that the badge is not simply a position of authority, it is a responsibility to the people. He is committed to keeping Graysville safe while also ensuring that our citizens feel heard, respected, and valued. His goal is to build trust between the police department and the community and to make sure that every citizen knows they have a police chief who genuinely cares about them and the community he serves.

Chief Gamblin also believes in an open door policy. Whether you have a concern, a question, a suggestion, or simply want to share something that could make our community better, his door is open. He believes effective leadership begins with listening, communicating, and being present for the people.

As we welcome Chief Julius Gamblin into this new role, let us recognize the dedication and service that have brought him to this point. 🚔 A Chapter Ends... A Legacy Lives On 🚔

As I close this chapter of my law enforcement career, my heart is filled with gratitude for the people and communities who made this journey possible.

💙 Thank you to the City of Fairfield for giving me my first opportunity in law enforcement.

💙 Thank you to the City of Cordova for giving me a second chance.

💙 Thank you to the Town of Parrish for providing invaluable leadership training.

💙 Thank you to the Town of Oakman for promoting me to my first Chief of Police position.

💙 Thank you to the City of Graysville for allowing me to retire in my hometown and for trusting me to help lead the rebirth of its police department.

As I've grown older and wiser, I've come to realize that none of this would have been possible without God's amazing grace, the unwavering love and support of my family, my friends, my fellow officers, and the many people who believed in me and encouraged me along the way.

A very special thank you to Sheriff Pettway for opening the door to my second journey in law enforcement with the Sheriff's Department.

Some may be happy to see me retire, while others may be a little saddened, but I can honestly say I have cherished every moment of this career. The greatest honor of my life has been serving others, protecting my communities, and, I hope, being a positive example for those who will continue this important work.

To everyone who has walked this journey with me—thank you for your friendship, your trust, your prayers, and your support throughout the years.

MISSING PERSON SEARCH

The Cullman Police Department Aviation Unit has been requested by the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office to assist in the search for a missing person.

Gary Calvert, 85, who suffers from dementia, was last seen in the area of AL-69 and County Road 122.

If you are in this area, please be alert and report any sightings or information that may assist in locating Mr. Calvert. If you see him, please call 911 immediately.

The Cullman Police Department will continue assisting our law enforcement partners throughout the search.

To the Citizens of Our Community,

Good afternoon.

I appreciate the concern many of you have expressed regarding recent events. Community engagement is important, and I encourage citizens to remain involved. However, I also believe that, as adults, we should model the same behavior we encourage in our young people: communication directly, asking questions, and seeking the facts before sharing information publicly.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and personal perspectives, and those should be respected. At the same time, factual information should be presented accurately, and we are committed to providing those facts whenever possible.

Regarding the traffic stop that has been discussed, it was directly related to an investigation that had begun earlier that day. We have made efforts to contact the individual involved to offer our sincere apology for the inconvenience and to explain the role his vehicle played in that investigation.

I have also seen a comments questioning why our officers are present outside the city limits. Like other law enforcement agencies, the Graysville Police Department follows investigations wherever they may lawfully lead. Our priority is to serve those in need and to provide timely assistance during active investigations. This is standard law enforcement practice and reflects our commitment to the public safety.

Concerning the photograph of the patrol vehicle that has been circulating, the situation could have easily been clarified by simply asking. The officer had stopped in the area while en route to work to purchase flowers from the Police Department for the family of a deceased individual. There was nothing improper about the officer’s presence there.

As a community, we can accomplish much more when we seek understanding instead of trying to create “gotcha” moments. Open communication, mutual respect, and a commitment to the truth will always strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and citizens we serve.

Finally, I make it my practice not to comment on matters without first knowing the facts. When I have questions, I ask the individuals directly involved. I encourage everyone to do the same. Every law enforcement agency has a public available phone number, and we welcome respectful inquiries from members of our community.

🇺🇸 Holiday Weekend Safety Reminder from the Graysville Police Department 🇺🇸

As we celebrate this holiday weekend, the Graysville Police Department wants to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable time with family and friends.

We encourage everyone to have fun, but please do so responsibly. If your plans include alcohol, don't drink and drive. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or arrange for a safe ride home. One poor decision can have lifelong consequences.

We also ask everyone to be mindful of your neighbors and our community. While celebrations are part of the holiday, please be respectful during the late evening and overnight hours by keeping noise to a reasonable level. A little courtesy goes a long way in helping everyone enjoy the weekend.

Our officers will be out working throughout the holiday weekend to help keep our community safe. Let's all do our part by making responsible choices and looking out for one another.

For clarification, the statements made in the earlier post do not accurately reflect the information that was provided.

The individual was advised to contact the Probate Court and obtain any available records or documentation regarding the property's ownership status, as well as any claims being asserted concerning the property. He was further informed that reviewing court records and other relevant legal documents would be the appropriate method for addressing questions related to ownership and possession rights.

Additionally, I advised him that I would contact the involved parties solely for the purpose of gathering information so that our department could develop a clearer understanding of the circumstances and be prepared to respond appropriately should any calls for service arise.

At no time did our department make any determination regarding legal ownership of the property, nor was legal advice provided. Questions involving property ownership and related disputes are civil matters that must be resolved through the courts and the appropriate legal process.

Our department remains committed to responding to all calls for service impartially and based on the facts, circumstances, and documentation available at the time of the response.
