Groff Memorial Library serves the residents and taxpayers of Grayville, Illinois, with public computers, full line of youth/adult programming, library materials in print, audio, video, magazine, microfilm, and eBook formats. Although for many years Grayville had a makeshift library arrangement and had actually opened a library in May of 1906, it was through the efforts of the Shakespeare Club that

the Carnegie Library was built. This club of twenty members met bi-weekly and on May 6, 1911, appointed a "Special Carnegie Committee" (later to become the first Board of Trustees), tasked with contacting Mr. Carnegie pledged $6,000 to builda library, while the money to purchase the lot on West Mill St. Gray was raised by public subscription. On March 3rd, 1913, the Carnegie building was opened to the public, and served the community well for nearly 100 years. A new building was deemed necessary by the Board in the early 21st century, and - again by public and community donations, the funds were raised to build the current building, which was completed in 2010, and moved into early in 2011.
