Kansas Incident Support Members of the Kansas AHIMT, bring advanced training and experience to help local agencies coordinate the response to and recovery from disasters.

The Kansas All Hazard Regional Incident Management Teams is a nationally recognized Type III AHIMT, formed to provide assistance to communities in Kansas that are handling major disasters or large, pre-planned events.

The Kansas Incident Support Team has been training in Wichita this week. This week we have been working on the O-305 All-Hazards Incident Management Team Class, G2300 Intermediate EOC Operations, and EOC Skillsets. We have also put several members on standby in case we are needed for wildfire response due to high fire danger and red flag warnings across the State.

The operational coordination symposium which has been going all week is working on their final exercise. The G2300 Intermediate EOC Functions and O305 All-Hazards Incident Management Team Courses teamed up today to work a scenario and put lessons learned into practice.

Along with discussing what the Kansas Forest Service has to offer, several personnel discuss their experiences working natural disasters in various parts of the country. Including the most recent experience of working the Pine Gulch Fire in Colorado which has officially become the largest fire in Colorado history, consuming just over 139,000 acres, but is now over 70% contained!
