It’s official. The GB city council voted last night to put the 3/4 cent sales tax question on the November ballot Here’s what it boils down to. If you vote for it, you will pay about $75 a year more in sales tax. If you vote against it, you can expect your water/sewer bill to increase about $25 a month or around $300 a year to fund renovations needed at the waste water treatment plant. A vote for it will enable the STAR bond proposal to proceed. Honestly, not sure how I’m going to vote on this yet. Speak up people. Give me your thoughts on this issue. Keep it civilized please.

The City of GB has posted information on their FB page regarding the 3/4 cent sales tax increase that will be on the November ballot. It is very informative whether you agree with it or not. Highly suggest you take a few minutes to read through it and fully understand what it means, and how it’s connected to the STAR bond. I have an opinion on all of it but would love to hear what you all think first.

I would like to hear some opinions on the STAR bond project and upcoming November election proposing a 3/4 cent sales tax increase. The STAR bond project includes the drag strip, a new athletic complex at the airport and a new sewage treatment plant. The tax increase would cover property tax relief, helping cover the drag strip if it doesn’t meet expectations and to also help cover expenses of a new sewage treatment plant. I have my own opinion on these two issues but I want to hear from other Great Bend residents first. Please chime in, tell me what your thoughts are.

Time to make it FB official. I am running for Great Bend City Council 3rd ward. For anyone that does not know me, I have lived in Great Bend for 60 years. I am married to Stephanie for 36 years now and have two adult children and two grandkids. That’s all for now, but more to come.
