ALERT UPDATES (9/2/2026 @0850):

Cascade County, City of Great Falls and Mutual aid partners are actively responded to calls for service within the City and throughout Cascade County.

MULTIPLE WILDLAND FIRES reported 9/2/2026.

Emergency crews responded to multiple wildland fires throughout Cascade County as high winds created dangerous fire conditions through downed power lines and additional ignition sources.

Reported fires:

Cora Creek Rd/MT Highway 200, Belt MT - In mop up
Church St/Belt Creek Rd, Belt MT - Extinguished
Fisk Rd, Simms MT - Extinguished

Please avoid affected areas. Keeping roads and access points clear is critical so firefighters, law enforcement, and other emergency responders can safely reach these incidents. Do not drive toward fire areas to watch, take photos, or check conditions.

Help keep yourself and your family safe:
• Stay alert for changing conditions — high winds can cause fire to spread rapidly and change direction with little warning.
• Secure outdoor items that could blow into roadways or power lines.
• Stay away from downed power lines and report them immediately.
• Keep your phone charged and monitor official sources for emergency information.
• If you live near an active fire, be prepared to leave quickly if conditions change or evacuation instructions are issued.

Conditions are changing quickly. Please give our responders the space and access they need to work safely.

Great reminders from Montana Disaster and Emergency Services

Recent wildfire evacuations in Washington and NW Montana remind us to be prepared to evacuate quickly. Build a kit, have an evacuation plan including for pets and livestock, and sign up for local alerts. Heed any evacuation warnings or orders from local officials.

Please join us in giving the biggest hooray to CMTK9 handlers Amanda & Dave for completing the 5 day USAF Inland Search & Rescue School Planning Course! 👏

Amanda described the course as challenging her to look beyond the field operations she knows so well and further develop her skills in search planning, resource management, probability-based decision making, and coordinating complex search incidents. It was an opportunity to learn alongside dedicated search and rescue professionals from across the country, each bringing unique experiences and perspectives.
Every conversation and scenario reinforced that no two searches are ever the same, and there’s always something new to learn.

She is excited to bring these lessons back to her local teams and continue growing as a search and rescue professional and we are grateful to have both her and Dave share their new skills with our team!

🌞Its going to HOT over the next several days!🌞

🌡 Extreme heat can become dangerous quickly, especially for older adults, young children, outdoor workers, athletes, and people with certain health conditions.

Help protect yourself and those around you:

💧Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
😓Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
👕Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
👴👵Check on neighbors, friends, and family members who may be more vulnerable.
🐕Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle. Not even for a few minutes!

Know the warning signs of heat illness.🤒

Heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, headache, nausea, or muscle cramps may be signs of HEAT EXHAUSTION.

Confusion, fainting, seizures, or a very high body temperature may indicate HEAT STROKE, a life-threatening emergency. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and take the heat seriously.

A quick check-in with someone you care about could make all the difference.
