The City's online utility payment portal is getting an upgrade! It will look a little different after June 2, and we want to make sure you know what to expect. 💻
If you already have a utility payment account, you will still be able to log in using your email and password.
With the upgrade, users will have to option to log in using Google, Apple, Microsoft, or Facebook. Also, users will be able to print or email a payment receipt with the upgrade.🥳
The payment portal will temporarily be down on June 2, from 10-11am, while the upgrade is completed.

BIG UPDATE: Adams v. Collins - Obesity

The Federal Circuit appeal has officially ended after the parties filed a voluntary dismissal on May 13, 2026, which the court granted on May 15, 2026.

What does that mean in plain English?

The government is no longer pursuing the appeal challenging the Veterans Court decision involving obesity as an intermediate step in service connection analysis.

This is important because veterans have increasingly used obesity as an 'intermediate step' between a service-connected condition and a secondary disability.

Example:
-Service-connected orthopedic condition
-Reduced mobility / medication side effects
-Obesity develops
-Obesity contributes to sleep apnea, diabetes, hypertension, etc.
VA has long resisted these theories in many cases, despite existing precedent opinions and case law recognizing obesity can function as an intermediate step for secondary service connection purposes.
With the appeal now dismissed, the underlying Veterans Court decision remains standing.

NOTE:
-Obesity itself is still generally not considered a compensable disability for direct service connection.
-BUT obesity may still serve as an intermediate link in establishing secondary service connection under the right facts and medical evidence.

This makes strong nexus opinions and medical rationale even more important moving forward.

orthopedic limitations
medication-induced weight gain
PTSD-related eating changes
inactivity from service-connected disabilities
…and that led to additional chronic conditions; this area of law absolutely matters.
