November is Strangulation Awareness Month ⚠️
When we talk about strangulation, we often think of adult victims but children are also at risk.
Non-fatal strangulation is one of the most dangerous and under-recognized forms of abuse a child can experience. It can happen at home or as part of bullying or physical discipline.
If a child discloses that someone put hands or pressure on their neck, take it seriously.
👉 Seek immediate medical attention.
👉 Report the incident to law enforcement or child protection services.

This is a time to shine a light on one of the most dangerous, yet least understood forms of intimate partner violence.
Strangulation is not the same as “choking.” It is a deliberate act of power and control where pressure is applied to the neck, cutting off blood flow and oxygen.

Online harassment and abuse are just as serious as abuse happening “in real life.” It also happens more than people realize.

As technology becomes more intertwined with our everyday lives, abusive partners can use it to monitor, control, or harass their victims, also known as technology-facilitated abuse. Just because it’s happening behind a screen doesn’t make it any less harmful.
