Oh, my gosh, you guys! We had the best summer this year! Enthusiastic staff, awesome kids, fun projects and really good field trips! We learned so much at the First People’s Buffalo Jump. Rangers Andy and Myrt led us in some Native American games and we rocked a scavenger hunt inside the museum! Mr. C**t gave us a tour of Giant Springs Fish Hatchery. We lucked out and had an absolutely gorgeous day. Not too hot , slight breeze! Did you know we have 12 hatcheries in Montana? Ms. Janine was our host at Wheels of Thunder. Not going to lie, there was a lot of floor time! The kids had a great time, ( so did the staff!)and were tuckered out afterwards. Limbo on skates? Yes please! So much to do at the Children’s Museum! Legos, grocery store, dress up closet, a ship to climb on….so much more! The kids were all over the place and the debate over which area was the best never did get decided! Ms. Annette was our host at Valley View Mini Golf. Some of the children in our group had never been before and it was so fun watching them try to get that ball in the hole! ( kids cheat! Lol) Ms. Aschle taught our kids the Wellerman dance. Do you know what a whaler means by “when the tonguing is done”? Summer Hands kids do! Ask them! Ms. Amber taught us all about sonography! So interesting! We went to Gibson Park ( always a good time) and finished up our summer program with pizza, cookies, juice and lots of challenges at Black Eagle Park. We had a tug-of-war contest, potato sack races, pipe/ball relay and a fun treasure hunt. Some of our pirate crew declared mutiny and challenged their captains to a sword fight! ( pool noodles! ) Hilarious!Sad that it’s over but looking forward to a great school year!

Ahoy, mateys!! We are just about to finish off our 3rd week of summer HANDs. We are spending our summer learning about pirate life and the ocean. We learned about scurvy today. Yuk! We are germinating lemon and lime seeds and will try to grow a lime or lemon tree! In Montana!!! We’ve come up with a code of conduct! (Wow- kids are harsh! )- we are working on cardboard pirate ships. The flags are made and ready to be hoisted! We made some awesome tp tube cannons and small 3D ships! We have lots more projects, challenges, and crafts in store! The next 7 weeks are going to fly by! ( treasure hunt, anyone?) Yo Ho me hearties! Yo Ho!!!
