Cascade County Search and Rescue Cascade County Search & Rescue

On July 24, 1962 ten men created and incorporated Mountain Patrol of Montana whose primary mission, unlike that of any other resource in the county, was solely search and rescue. This created the first volunteer unit in Cascade County having search and rescue as their primary mission and by state law, search and rescue was, and still is, under the direction of the Sheriff's Office. Cascade County

Search and Rescue is still a group of dedicated volunteers from who are on call 24/7, 365, to assure when someone needs help, we are there!

Montana FWP is advising floaters, hikers and other visitors to Sluice Boxes State Park of new rock obstacles in Belt Creek and obstructions to the hiking trail adjacent to the creek. A recent rockslide resulted in numerous boulders deposited in the creek and also across parts of the trail.

The new boulders in the creek are located about one-half mile downstream of Logging Creek Bridge on Belt Creek. Floaters should use extra caution and scout the affected areas in advance.

The affected area of the trail is less than 100 feet in length and will require hikers to scramble over large boulders to navigate across that section of the trail.

The rockslides occurred over the winter, likely during earthquakes centered near Great Falls in January.

Jay was a leader, a mentor, a colleague and most importantly a true friend. He would give anything to help Search and Rescue, whether at work for the sheriff's office or on his own. His dedication and commitment were unmatched.
Thank you for everything you've done for us. You are and will be forever missed and remembered. πŸ¦…πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
