Today, our five recruits were surrounded by the officers and peers they will soon work alongside as they receive their badges and officially begin the next chapter of their careers with the Greece Police Department.

During the gathering, Acting Chief Parina spoke about the meaning behind the uniform and the responsibility that comes with wearing it. He reminded the recruits that the badge represents more than a profession. It represents Duty, Honor, and Community, and the trust placed in them by the Town of Greece.

Congratulations to our five newest officers as they begin their journey in service to our community.

On May 22nd, officers from the Greece Police Department joined community partners at Athena High School for a Traffic Safety Fair focused on promoting safe and responsible driving habits among students.

Throughout the day, students participated in hands on activities and interactive demonstrations that highlighted the dangers of distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding, and failing to wear a seatbelt. From virtual driving simulators and pedal cart courses to rollover simulations and impairment goggle exercises, each station provided a realistic look at how quickly unsafe decisions behind the wheel can lead to serious consequences.

Officers Camera and Spall assisted with the alcohol impairment goggle station, where students completed activities designed to demonstrate how impairment can affect coordination, balance, reaction time, and decision making.

Programs like this help reinforce the importance of making smart choices behind the wheel and looking out for one another every time we drive.

Today, at approximately 2:15 pm, officers from the Greece Police Department responded to the intersection of Manitou Road and Ridgeway Avenue for the report of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.

Officers, along with Fire and EMS personnel, located a 59-year-old male with critical injuries and a 57-year-old female with non-life-threatening injuries, both of whom were riding on the involved motorcycle. Both individuals were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where the male remains in critical condition.

We remember the sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, friends, and neighbors who never made it home after answering our nation’s call. Their absence is felt in quiet moments, in family traditions, and in the freedoms we often take for granted.

This Memorial Day, we honor their sacrifice and carry their memory forward.

05/21/2026

Members of the department attended yesterday’s Locust Club Annual Law Enforcement Memorial, standing alongside fellow law enforcement partners in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

While National Police Week has come to a close, we continue to honor the officers we have lost and carry forward their memory throughout the year. Their service and sacrifice remain present in every call, every shift, and every member of the law enforcement community who continues to serve.
