I was asked a great question by a community member today:
“Are you actually going to do the work, or are you doing this for the paycheck and then not showing up like others have done?”
I appreciate the question because my record of community service speaks directly to it.
Before running for Greece Town Board, I served on the Board of Education, a volunteer position with no compensation. During that time, I served on six different committees, including Audit, Budget, Code of Conduct, Curriculum, Community Schools, and the MCSBA Legislative Committee. ( I'm pretty sure i'm missing some)
I currently serve as Secretary of the Greece Olympia PTSA Executive Committee—also unpaid.
I was the President of the Greece Olympia Sports Boosters 2024-25- also unpaid.
I serve on the Board of Directors for the Greece Regional Chamber of Commerce and am also an ambassador —again, unpaid.
I have also volunteered on two committees with American Legion Post 468. I served on the Baseball Committee, donating my time throughout the two-week tournament, often from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. I also volunteered with the War on Terror Memorial Committee from the beginning of the planning process through the completion of the event.
In addition, I have participated in and helped organize several community cleanup projects throughout Greece including our very own Dewey Ave Corridor Community First and Conversations clean up.
These efforts require time, commitment, and a willingness to show up—there is no paycheck attached.
These are only some of the committees and organizations I have been involved with over the years. I have consistently donated my time because I care deeply about the Greece community and the people who call it home.
So, to answer the question: Yes, I will show up. I already do.
A paycheck has never been what drives my involvement in this community. Service, accountability, and putting our community first are what motivate me.
