Great news!

I’m pleased to share that the Town will NOT be applying chemical pesticide or herbicide treatments around the splash pad, playground or the area between the playground and pavilion.

This was an important issue that I raised earlier this spring, and I want to thank the residents who contacted the Town, attended meetings and voiced their concerns. Your advocacy mattered and helped bring about this positive outcome.

I also want to thank our Town staff for listening to the concerns that were raised and for making this adjustment. Their willingness to review the plan and take a thoughtful approach is greatly appreciated.

I support a common-sense approach to the use of chemical herbicides and pesticides - especially in places where children play and where families and pets gather. That includes playgrounds, athletic fields, retention ponds and other public recreational spaces.

This approach strikes the right balance between keeping our parks and facilities attractive and well maintained while being thoughtful about how these products are used in spaces enjoyed by families, children and pets.

It's a beautiful day - enjoy our many great outdoor spaces!

“A measure of success is the ability to get things done.”

Mr. Boily was a good man. A long time educator with the Greece Schools, Town Board member from 1975 to 1989 and Town Supervisor from 1989 to 1997, he touched countless lives - including my own.

Last summer, while I was running for election, Mr. Boily would call just to check in and offer advice, encouragement and support. I will alway be grateful for his guidance and friendship. He was always a gentleman.

My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, his sons and their families during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Mr. Boily. Your legacy of service and kindness will not be forgotten.

Well done, Giuseppe!

Feel-good story of the day!

I'm grateful to see this historic home getting a new lease on life, thanks to a very generous donation from a local roofing contractor and the Greece Assemblyof God, whose vision will help create something meaningful for the needs of students.

Many of you are probably familiar with this property, but I bet fewer know its fascinating history. The home was built in 1947 by Robert “Bob” Wegman, founder of Wegmans. Danny Wegman grew up here and very likely spen time playing in nearby Sawyer Park.

Bill Sauers shared with me a newspaper article from January 1, 1984, featuring then-owners Bob and Susan Turner, who renovated the Medina sandstone Cape Cod-style home.

A side note for local history enthusiasts: the Medina sandstone used in the house was first discovered during construction of the Erie Canal. Some historians believe it's the same stone used in many of the bridges along the Parkway.

It's wonderful to see a property with such deep roots in our community being preserved and repurposed for the next generation.

Today, we remember and honor the men and women of our armed forces - especially the brave soldiers from Greece - who served, fought and gave their lives for our country.

This remembrance carries special meaning in 2026, the 250th anniversary of our Country- an anniversary made possible by their sacrifice. Because of their courage and selflessness, my boys have the opportunity to grow up in a country that is free.

My family wishes everyone a meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

The Greece Town Board meeting is tonight, May 21 at 6:00 PM. Attached is a copy of the meeting agenda for your reference.

I’d like to highlight the following agenda items:

Public Hearing: to consider re-establishing the Town of Greece Historic Preservation Board. Restoring this Board is an important priority to me that will help preserve the character and history of our community for future generations. I look forward to hearing public comments and community feedback to help craft a thoughtful and effective law.

#3: We will be appointing four new officers to the Greece Police Department. Public safety is a top priority, and I’m glad to see more officers joining the department.

#11: We will be contracting with a professional grant writing service. There are many grant opportunities available, but securing them takes a lot of work. This service will help open the door to more funding for Town projects such as environmental improvements and infrastructure upgrades. I will monitor their success by ensuring they bring in more grant money than the cost of their services.

#12 & #13: Authorizing the Greece Police and Greece Special Police to provide security for Bands at Barnard and the Hilton Carnival - two very popular and fun community events that are important to keep safe and orderly.

#14: Duxbury Rd from Ridge Terrace to Alfonso Drive will be getting reconstructed this summer.

#25: We are welcoming another new business to town! The Hideout Tavern will be moving into the former Robbie’s Bar and Grill location in North Greece Plaza. The owners live in Greece, and I wish them great success.

#26: Certifying the Town as an Age-Friendly Community. An age-friendly community is safer, healthier and more connected for residents of all ages. This focuses on improvements that help people stay active and independent while strengthening quality of life and supporting the local economy. It also opens the door to new partnerships and funding opportunities that support long-term community improvements.

#34: An agreement with Granicus to provide licensing and support for live streaming Town board meetings from June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027. This is an important step toward improving transparency and opening Town government to the people — one of the things I campaigned on.

#36: Memorial Day Road Closures — From 10 AM to 12 PM, the following roads will be closed. Please plan an alternate route:

• Long Pond Road from Latta Road to Jay Vee Lane
• Janes Road from Kirk Road to Long Pond Road

Please let me know if you have any questions. If you are unable to attend in person, the meeting will be livestreamed on YouTube at the following link:

Feel free to stop by my Coffee and Constituents this Saturday at 10:00 AM – Please NOTE new location this month - Town Hall room A&B across from the Town Board Meeting Room. It’s a great opportunity to talk about these agenda items or any other town-related matters that are on your mind.
