This week, one of our amazing students received the City of Greeley Ed Clark National Youth Service Day Award. This award recognizes young members of our community who have dedicated their time to helping others and making a meaningful impact.
Moises has contributed over 150+ hours of community service throughout his high school career. His commitment to helping others has been a consistent part of his life and reflects his passion for giving back to his community.
He has volunteered with organizations such as Serve 6.8, United Way, and other local community initiatives, supporting efforts like clothing boutiques, food pantries, and community assistance. He has also used his bilingual skills to help communicate and connect with Spanish-speaking families, ensuring they feel welcomed, understood, and supported.
However, his most meaningful experiences have come from working directly with youth. Moises has volunteered with the S.E.V.A. Center at the Northern Colorado Children’s Festival, participated in Dr. Seuss Day at Billie Martinez Elementary, and took part in the School District 6 Special Olympics 2025—where he worked alongside students, played sports with them, and helped reset games while also using his bilingual skills to connect with youth and families in both English and Spanish.
Moises often shares that he feels called to help others. Next year, he will attend UNC to pursue a degree in Human Services. His goal is to become a social worker—whether in a school, healthcare, or nonprofit setting—especially working alongside Spanish-speaking Latino and bilingual families to connect them with government and community resources and ensure they receive the support they need.
Moises, we are incredibly proud of you. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
