In the summer of 1947, Albert J. Martin, drove this Ford Model A car from Greeley, CO to Mexico City. He undertook the journey of over 1,700 miles to attend summer school for Spanish as he worked on his BA in Foreign Languages at Colorado State College of Education (UNC's former name), a degree which he completed in 1949.

You can see more photos from Martin's roadtrip on DigitalUNC (link in the linktree in our bio).

Three big benefits of OER (Open Educational Resources) that truly make a difference:

#1 - Accessible, adaptable materials for all learners. No waiting for shipping. No, “I’ll get the book next week.” Every student has the material on the first day of class.

#2 - Flexibility & Customization Faculty can adapt, remix, and update content to fit their course goals and student needs. Learning becomes more relevant, current, and inclusive.

#1 - Accessible, adaptable materials for all learners. No waiting for shipping. No “I’ll get the book next week.” Every student has the material on the first day of class.

OER aren’t just about free materials. They’re about equity, access, and empowering students to succeed.
