Coming Soon—Fall 2026 Semester! The Suey Hey and Stella Chin Innovation Den, located in Michener Library Room 115, is a collaborative space where ideas become reality. This hands-on space empowers students, faculty, and researchers to create, prototype, and experiment across disciplines. Starting this fall, you can make an appointment to work with an Innovation Den staff member and bring your ideas to life!

In the summer of 2026, Open Educational Resources (OER) help students save and faculty shine. OER are free learning materials, so students don’t have to buy textbooks. And faculty can adapt them, letting their innovation and creativity shine.

We had a blast presenting at the Academic Librarian Conference and Networking Day last Monday! This one-day conference was organized by the Colorado Chapter of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) and graciously hosted by the University of Denver at the Anderson Academic Commons.

Cat Hildebrand and Teesha Prichard presented "Tell Us What You Really Think: Initial Explorations of Student Perceptions of Welcomeness and Belonging." Their poster represents the initial work of the Libraries Belongingness Working Group, which has been seeking student feedback about our library spaces over the past year. You can find a copy of their poster in UNCOpen, the institutional repository (link in bio).

Jayne Blodgett and Annie Epperson presented "Library Workers and Burnout: Preliminary Results from a Nationwide Survey." Their poster shows an initial analysis of data collected from more than 800 librarians across the country about the intersection of burnout and mental health interventions in libraries.

In observance of Juneteenth, our hours this weekend are changing, as reflected in the post. University Libraries will be closed on June 19th to celebrate.

Juneteenth, celebrated each year on June 19, commemorates the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a day to honor freedom, reflect on our nation's history, and celebrate Black culture, resilience, and achievement.

Thank you for your understanding, and we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Juneteenth weekend! ❤️🖤💚

Hey Bears! Did you know that June 6th is National Black Bear Day? Did you also know that UNC Libraries has books pertaining to black bears?

If you're looking for something more literary, you can find Mary Oliver's poem "Spring" in her collection of poems titled "Devotions: The Selected Poems of Mary Oliver" under the call number PS3565.L5 A6 2017 at Michener Library. If you're looking for books that scientifically talk about black bears, you can find our section under the QL737's at Michener Library as well! 🐻🌲

Celebrate Pride Month with the University Libraries! Pride Month displays can be found at both libraries this month.

Pride Month is celebrated annually to commemorate the Stonewall Riots that began on June 28th, 1969. This month is a time of celebration for the LGBTQIA+ community and serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the enduring global impact the community has had.

While the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights continues to this day, this month is dedicated to recognizing the challenges of the past and embracing a hopeful outlook for the future.
