Three District 6 schools have been named among America’s Healthiest Schools 2026 by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation!
A total of 1,376 schools across 35 states and Washington D.C. were recognized this year. This national award highlights schools that are implementing best practices to support the health and wellbeing of students, staff, and families.
Schools can be recognized in the following 9 areas: supporting school health services, implementing local school wellness policy, improving nutrition & food access, bolstering physical education & activity, strengthening social-emotional health & learning, promoting tobacco-free schools, cultivating staff well-being, increasing family & community engagement, and enriching health education.
Shawsheen Elementary School was recognized in Staff Well-Being, Jefferson High School was recognized in Social-Emotional Health & Learning, and D6 Online Academy was recognized in an incredible 8 out of 9 categories! These awards are a testament to the dedication to and support for student and staff wellness at these schools and across D6. We are so proud of your achievements, congratulations!!
