📰Greeley Police Arrest Man on 151 Felony Counts of Child Sexual Abuse Material Distribution📰

GREELEY, Colo. – On Thursday, May 21, detectives with the Greeley Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit arrested Travis Nicholson, 25, following an investigation into the distribution of child s*xual abuse material.

The arrest follows a thorough investigation driven by multiple Cybertips alleging Nicholson’s involvement with the possession and distribution of child s*xual abuse material.

Nicholson was arrested on 151 felony counts of distributing child s*xual abuse material. Detectives seized multiple electronic devices from Nicholson’s residence for digital analysis, and additional charges may follow. The Weld County Court issued a $200,000 cash/surety bond for Nicholson, who remains in custody at the Weld County Jail.

The Greeley Police Department remains committed to monitoring online platforms to ensure the safety of our community’s youth. We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activity.

This is an ongoing investigation and all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Anyone with information on this case should contact Detective Joseph Rosengrants at [email protected] or Emily Destefanis at [email protected].

No further information will be released today.

💯☀️100 Deadliest Days of Summer💯☀️

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, traffic safety experts nationwide note a sobering trend: the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day sees a dramatic spike in fatal traffic crashes, particularly among teen drivers. With school out and more people traveling our roads, these next 100 days are historically the most dangerous of the year.

Here at the good ol' GPD, we want everyone to enjoy a safe, memorable summer. Many of these seasonal tragedies are entirely preventable if we focus on the core risks:

📱 Put down the distractions. Distracted driving is a factor in nearly 60% of teen crashes. Use your phone's "Do Not Disturb" mode before putting the car in drive.
🛑 Slow down. High speeds significantly reduce reaction time. Stick to the posted limits, especially in heavy holiday traffic and construction zones.
🍻 Drive sober. If your summer plans involve alcohol, always arrange a sober ride home ahead of time. There is zero tolerance for impaired driving.
👥 Set boundaries for young drivers. Inexperience is a leading cause of summer accidents. Parents, consider establishing a summer driving agreement with your teens to limit passengers and nighttime driving.

Let's work together to change the statistics this year. Buckle up, watch your speed, and let's keep Greeley and our citizens safe all summer long. And if you're fair-skinned like me, don't forget to wear sunscreen!

Woohoo! Summer break is officially HERE and that last day of school feeling is unmatched! 🙌🎒

As everyone rushes out to enjoy the summer sun, let's keep safety at the top of the checklist. Look out for bikes, e-bikes, crosswalks, and extra neighborhood traffic over the next few months.

Be safe out there, chang chang changitty chang sha-bop! 🎸☀️

💙Blue BBQ💙

We want to give a massive shoutout to the incredible asset protection team at Albertsons/Safeway for hosting a fantastic "Blue BBQ" for our Greeley Police Department staff today!

Our sworn officers and non-sworn personnel were treated to a great lunch right in our back parking lot, completely hosted, financed, and executed by their team as part of a national appreciation event.

This lunch was a generous gesture of support, but more importantly, it highlighted the vital partnership we share. Working alongside organizations like the Commercial Crime Collaborative (C3) and the Colorado Organized Retail Crime Alliance (COORCA), our joint efforts are crucial in tackling organized retail crime and keeping our local business community safe.
