I know a lot of us are struggling with what we are seeing take place in Afghanistan right now. There is a peer to peer discussion taking place at UWGB tomorrow from 1500-1600. It is to be held at the “At Ease” Veteran and Service Member Student Lounge MAC 227. I encourage any veterans who want to get their feelings off their chest to join.
If you or a fellow veteran need help please reach out to your local VFW, Vet Center, or the Veteran Crisis Line. We are all in this together.

Since our last update we’ve recieved a couple more donations for our non-golf outing. A special thanks to Denmark State Bank and The Kopinski family for your generosity toward our mission!
Wow! We at VFW Post 9677 need to send out a huge thank you to our community that has rallied around us during this uncertain time. Despite having to cancel our annual golf outing, we have had no small number of supporters step up and make donations. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the businesses and community members support. I'm sure this isn't everyone but if I miss anyone please let me know! If you have an opportunity to support the businesses listed here please do so, they have gone above and beyond in supporting our mission.

Hello to all of our followers! We wanted to send a notice out to you all to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel our golf outing this year. It was not a decision that came easy but in the end it was determined that we should exercise an abundance of caution to protect our members, volunteers, and our amazing supporters. We knew going in that this would be at best a modified version of events past and want to make sure that we provide a great experience for all. So we are taking the year to regroup and plan for next year to make it the memorable event it's been known to be.
That being said this will cause a fair amount of financial strain on the post as a whole. We are asking our community to consider making a donation and attached you will find a letter from our post commander Al Jaquet to that effect. If you could take a minute to read it and if possible help support our mission it would be greatly appreciated.
We will plan on bringing back the golf outing in 2021 as strong as ever and hope to see you all there!
Thanks!
Another memorial day service that is being held
Quick update for anyone planning on joining for the Memorial Day services, the time has been updated to 0930 at the Post. We have add Prince of Peace Memorial to the list of observances and will make that our first stop. We still need some member volunteers so if you can commit please call Al and let him know to expect you.
Happy Friday everyone! We wanted to put out another update on where we are as a post in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Yesterday we held a socially distant officers meeting in the parking lot of the post to go over a few things and here are some of the takeaways to share:
The Poppy Sales Fundraiser for Spring was cancelled. We just don't feel we are there yet that it makes good sense to put our volunteers out in the public. We are hopeful that we can still have our fall event but will make that decision as we get closer.
Memorial day services - we are going to try to make this happen assuming we can do so safely. What that means: We won't be attending the church service that morning as usual and instead will focus on the cemeteries. For any volunteers interested please meet at the post on Monday May 25 at 10am. The plan is to have the groups limited to 10 people and each driving separately to and from the sites.
Golf Outing - we are exploring our options on this and are looking into a modified event. More details to come on how we can execute this and still make it a fun memorable event.
At this point if we do nothing else the post will suffer a financial loss this year, but we should be able to weather that storm. (barring any unforeseen events). We have had a few anonymous donations come in and it is so appreciated that during a time like this there are still people willing to help keep us afloat. It is certainly our plan to stay around and be a fixture in the Bellevue area for years to come.
We miss all of our membership and community members, we can't wait to see you all again soon!
Hi everyone, we wanted to share some updates on how we as a post will be handling the changing landscape of the Covid-19 pandemic.
First and foremost the safety and health of our members and community is our number one priority. As such our normally scheduled post meetings and auxiliary meetings are being cancelled for time being. We will take this on a month to month basis and will advise our members when we feel it is safe to resume normal operations.
Our upcoming Dinner Dance fundraiser will also be cancelled pending reschedule. I know when this all clears out we will need some social interaction and hope to be able to provide that opportunity. We will keep you all posted.
At this time our Golf Outing is still on for this August, should that need to change we will make that notice.
We at Vfw Post 9677 wish all our members, auxiliary, and community members good health and to stay safe as we take on this fight.
A big thanks to everyone that came out yesterday for the meat raffle! We had a great turnout and a better time! We had support from other vet organizations as well, I saw VFW Green Bay, WI - Post 2037 Noble-Straubel, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association WI 45-3, and the VVA to name a few. Great to see our vet community coming together to help each other out! Thanks to Jean Vandenlanenberg for donating the Jake Kumerow authographed packers ball for our raffle. And of course a BIG thanks to Jeff and the staff at Pearly Gates Bar for hosting us and helping make this a success! Think we just might do it again!
Come on out to The Pearly Gates on Sat Feb29 for a good time. Win some meat and help our post improve our facilities to continue to serve our local community!
We will be accepting donations for our Operation Comfort Kits event on the 26th from 11-1 at The Bar - Lynndale. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you might have. Hope to see you at the drop off in support of a good cause.
