Last Wednesday, CAT 3231 participated in a hygiene kit drop off with the Romanian Salvation Army. The drop off was for previously donated hygiene kits to be distributed at a local homeless shelter. The Romanian Salvation Army also provided a hot meal and a Doctor to address any concerns that those in the shelter were experiencing. Partnerships like these allow our teams to interact with the local populace as well as understand how best to support our local NGO partners.

On 19 October 2020 in Kaunas, Lithuania, CAT 3234 facilitated a first aid familiarization event with 34 cadets from the Generolo P. Plechaviciaus Cadet Lyceum and the 432d Civil Affairs Battalion medic, SFC Derek Baker, and two medics from 2nd District KASP (Lithuanian National Defense Volunteer Forces). The familiarization class began with an introduction to Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) by the 432d medic, groups reviewed using litters, nasopharyngeal airway, and eye bandages. The KASP medics each took a group, one demonstrated pressure dressings and the other led cadets in applying tourniquets. The event enhanced ready to fight/combat credible forces by allowing US and KASP Medics to practice medical instruction and by enhancing emergency medical proficiency of the civil populace and future Lithuanian Armed Forces members.

Commanding General, U.S. Army Civil Affairs & Psychological Operations

Greetings USACAPOC(A)!

Columbus Day weekend is here. Columbus Day is a federal holiday commemorating the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas in 1492, and is the beginning of the Fall season. It is also a time for our USACAPOC(A) Soldiers, Families, and Civilian staff to unwind in preparation for the coming Winter season.

During this weekend, many of you may be in a situation where you will travel or be in close contact with others. Enjoy the holiday, but be mindful of the risk posed by COVID-19 and continue to practice safety in your daily lives and during this holiday weekend.

We all need to work together to remain vigilant to continue to practice proper hygiene, with 20 seconds of hand-washing and protecting one another by wearing a face mask while interacting with others in close environments when six feet of distancing is not possible. And just as important, stay away from hot spots where there is an elevated risk of virus transmission to protect yourself, your Family, and your co-workers from COVID-19 risk.

October is also a good time to prepare your homes for the colder months ahead. Every year, Soldiers and Family members are injured or killed in house fires or from lack of preparation for storms or extreme cold weather. One of the most important things you can do to protect yourself and your family is to make an escape plan out of every room, practice your escape plan, and build a supply kit in case of emergency.

Please remember that safety is everyone’s responsibility. I want to see each and every one of you back refreshed and ready for the challenges that will come over the next year.

CAT 3235-L along with Command Teams of Charlie Co. and HQ, attended a media event at the Pabrade Training Area in Lithuania. The US Ambassador to Lithuania, Robert Gilchrist, and the Lithuanian Minister of Defense, Raimundas Karoblis, were driven in Bradley fighting vehicles to the demonstration area. They then each fired the M1 Abrams and M2 Bradley weapon systems.
Following the live fire demonstration, the two VIPs were interviewed in front of a static display by various news outlets including the 2-69 Armor Regiment and Lithuanian force public affairs representatives. Questions from the media focused on the training amongst NATO troops and readiness. The turnout of multiple news agencies, Embassy staff, Lithuanian and US military demonstrated a cohesive partnership between all of these key players.

Have you been wondering how the Payroll Tax deferral affects you?

A Presidential Memorandum was issued on Aug. 8, 2020 to temporarily defer employees' 6.2% Social Security tax withholdings if the monthly rate of basic pay is less than $8,666.66 for Soldiers and less than $4,000 per pay period for Civilians.

If your rate of pay is at or above this threshold, your social security tax withholding will not be affected.

Here's the basics:

Today we remember 9/11 and those who have sacrificed since that day. The Soldiers of CAT 3233 had a unique opportunity to show support not only for today but also to their host country.

US Embassy- Budapest and the Hungarian Red Cross were holding a blood drive in memory of the tragic events on 9/11/2001. The Soldiers of not only CAT 3233, but their partners in the Hungarian Defense Forces, came to donate. We give a special thanks to everyone who took a moment to remember this day and to pay forward the continued blessings we have in our lives.

CAT 3232 along with leadership of the 432d CA BN attend an introductory meeting and tour of the Military Training Center for Foreign Operations (MTCFO). Meetings like this are important in several different ways. Not only do they allow us to meet and engage with our partners but when we are shown their history and given insight into their abilities, it provides us a level of knowledge to further the relationship. We work closely with our Polish CIMIC partners and appreciate them taking the time to walk us through their training center. Thank you to the Polish Civil-military cooperation team! We look forward to working with you closer and continuing to build a strong relationship.
