Thank you to our friends at Wisconsin Public Education Network for the reminder about why the League encourages a YES vote on school funding* referendums.

Until our state legislature adequately funds public education, referendums are the way in which public schools fund everything from staff to programming to routine maintenance.

* School funding referendums are not to be confused with the constitutional amendment questions (labeled State of Wisconsin Referendum Questions 1, 2 and 3 on the ballot) that every voter across the state will see on their ballot. The League recommends a NO vote on the constitutional amendments/state referendum questions and a YES vote on school funding referendum questions.

All Wisconsin voters have the option of voting via absentee ballot. They do not have to offer any reason for doing so. Voting absentee is a safe and secure option that allows eligible voters - including those with disabilities or health concerns - to have their voices heard.

You request your ballot, receive and complete your ballot, and return it properly...but what happens after that? Check out this infographic to learn more about the path of your absentee ballot. Voting by mail is a reliable way to vote, there are safeguards in place to make sure your ballot is counted!

🚨 Heads up, Wisconsin voters!

Some already registered voters across Wisconsin are receiving official-looking mailers telling them they need to register to vote.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. These mailers are NOT from your municipal clerk. If you’re unsure about your voter registration status, go directly to the official Wisconsin Elections Commission website: MyVote.WI.gov.

2. Receiving this mailer does NOT mean there’s a problem with your voter registration or that your municipal clerk made an error or that the voter rolls are incorrect or mismanaged. Again, these mailers are not from your municipal clerk.

3. Don’t complete or return the form.
At best, these mailers are intended to create confusion and distrust about our elections. At worst, they may be an attempt to collect personal information. Either way, if you receive one, don’t fill it out.

4. Check your registration at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/. This is the official Wisconsin voter information website and is the best place to confirm your registration status, find your polling place and see what’s on your ballot.

For the November 3 election, the online registration deadline is October 14. If you miss that deadline, you can still register in person with your municipal clerk or at your polling place on Election Day, with the required proof of residence.

Don’t let an official-looking mailer cause unnecessary confusion. Check your registration through Wisconsin’s official election website and get your voting information from trusted sources.

📬 Absentee ballots are hitting mailboxes!

Before you fill out your ballot, here are some helpful resources to make sure you have the information you need to cast your vote.

🗳️ Compare the candidates at Vote411.org

Vote411.org is the League of Women Voters’ voter-information website. One of its best features is the ability to compare candidates side-by-side, in their own words, on a variety of issues.

Just enter your address to see the races and candidates on your specific ballot. All candidates are invited to participate. Not all do. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

📜 Learn about the three statewide referendum questions

Your ballot will include three constitutional amendment questions. These would make permanent changes to Wisconsin’s Constitution.

The League recommends a NO vote on all three. Here’s why:
