Congratulations to Michelle and Kurt Bertram who completed their Master Hiker designation at Shenandoah River State Park

Here is what they said about their journey:

"We discovered Trail Quest shortly after moving to Virginia, and we loved having the perfect excuse to explore our new state. We had no idea how many biomes Virginia has until we were out there driving scenic back roads to the parks.

It took us two and a half years to visit all the parks. It was great fun to plan a day trip here and a weekend trip there. We actually got married at Twin Lakes State Park and then spent our honeymoon hiking nine parks in southern and western Virginia! Some of our favorite highlights included the waterfalls at Grayson Highlands State Park seeing Fairy Stone State Park at peak fall foliage, an impromptu rented-bike adventure at New River Trail State Park, napping with rain pattering on the cabin roof at Douthat State Park, and watching sunsets from all the overlooks at Breaks Interstate. Michelle even created a painted collage with stickers from all the parks we visited.

Our favorite “hack” is reading the cabin journals. We’ve gotten fantastic recommendations for local dining and especially scenic hikes that way!"

Thank you for sharing your journey and for being part of the Trail Quest and Virginia State Park family!
