Yesterday was a great day for the Leadership Green Bay Class of 2020 as they participated in the virtual Closing Session Day, sponsored by Prevea! Each class member shared a paper quilt square that explained their leadership journey and the colorful collage makes up the Class of 2020 Leadership quilt. Dr. Rai, from Prevea, also shared his leadership journey and experiences with the class. Now, we are all looking forward to celebrating the Class of 2020 at the pending graduation ceremony.

Class of 2020, Team 4 needs your help! Due to COVID-19, their group project, Derby for the Kids, benefiting HSHS St. Vincent Children's Hospital, was cancelled.

Instead, the team is using their committed sponsor dollars to support the Children’s Hospital by way of gift cards for the patients and families currently being served. Restaurant, gas stations and grocery store gift cards help ease the financial burden of having a loved one in the hospital, especially during COVID-19.

Team 4 is encouraging current Leadership Green Bay members and alumni to help gather gift cards to support HSHS St. Vincent Children's Hospital. Any amount for any local restaurant, gas station or grocery store is welcomed. The most direct (and safe) way to share your donation is to mail it to the HSHS St. Vincent/St. Mary’s Foundation at: PO Box 11706, Green Bay, WI 54307-1706. Please feel free to include a note saying this is on behalf of Leadership Green Bay Class of 2020.

Yesterday, the Class of 2020 experienced the first virtual Leadership Green Bay session day! Thank You Berners Schober for supporting the Environment session day and sharing your best practices of LEAN designing and construction. Another 'Thank You' to the panelists and speakers for sharing insights about climate change, water quality efforts and our local community’s environment initiatives.

It was refreshing to connect and see faces of the Class of 2020 as well as many of the program alumni.

For 100 years, 'essential businesses' helped Green Bay keep the Packers alive and in Green Bay

As we have opportunity to reflect, this is a great article about the heritage of our community and arriving where we are. And of course, anytime there's a history of the community component, it makes sense to loop in and interview Mary Jane Herber, Leadership Green Bay alum, presenter and committee member.

The Leadership Green Bay Class of 2020 took part in Economic & Workforce Development Day this week and learned a ton! The goals were to gain a better understanding of how the economy in Green Bay is changing and developing, as well as provide an opportunity to analyze factors that drive Greater Green Bay’s business decision making and development opportunities.

The day kicked off at the The Automobile Gallery with Mike Kawleski, public affairs manager of Georgia-Pacific sharing a few words and setting the tone for the day. Matthew Kee, startup development manager and Ron Franklin, Hub manager of the Greater Green Bay Chamber both shared some foundational information on what Economic and Workforce development encompasses in our community.

After the leadership challenge activity, the class heard more from a municipal government panel with representatives from neighboring communities. The panel included Kevin Vonck, director of City of Green Bay Community & Economic Development, Aaaron Schuette, community development director for Village of Ashwaubenon, Trevor Fuller, planning and zone administrator for Village of Allouez and Travis Coenen, administrator for Village of Wrightstown.

Next, they experienced a virtual tour of the continued development of Downtown Green Bay with Jeff Mirkes, executive director for Downtown Green Bay. Everyone enjoyed lunch and toured Georgia-Pacific, learning more about manufacturing and its role in our economic development.

Last, but not least, the groups traveled to Lambeau Field and heard from Adam Brock of Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, where he shared how national trends are making an impact on our local dairy industry. Aaron Popkey, director of public affairs for Green Bay Packers and Cordero Barkley, partner & director of finance and investments for Titletown Tech followed and shared more about the exciting development coming from the Titletown District.

Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach closed out the day and the class enjoyed great food and drinks at the session day social held at 1919 Kitchen and Tap!

We’d like to extend a HUGE thank you to all the class participants, the planning committee, presenters and a special thank you to our session day investment partner, Georgia-Pacific. The day would not have been possible without each person working together to make it a reality.

Interested in becoming part of the 2021 class? Applications are open!

The Class of 2020 enjoyed a jam-packed Education Day yesterday. Thank you to our Session Day Sponsors, NWTC and UW-Green Bay and our session day committee members for making the day a huge success.

The Class started the morning with a tour of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College from Kathryn Rogalski, vice president for learning, NWTC. We’re thankful for all the community projects our small groups have completed over the years, and in an effort to highlight these amazing efforts we want to offer a shout out every now and then to our groups.

Very recently one of our small groups from the Class of 2019 organized an entertaining and educational Dueling for Freedom event, which took place on May 31, 2019. Thank you to all the donors and individuals who attended and helped raise $11,829! Eye Heart World, a local non-profit organization in De Pere, WI was the focus of the event where they were highlighted for many of the ongoing prevention, programming, education, as well recovery services they provide around sex trafficking and for victims. Eye Heart World and their recovery home for victims, the Rose Home, are leading the fight against this tragic issue that exists in our community and all across the US and globe.

Great work team! Your time, energy, talents and efforts are to be commended! You made a difference.

What an amazing Human Services Session Day for Class of 2020! With the help of the Session Day Sponsor, Bellin Health the location support of the The Salvation Army Kroc Center, and the multitude of session day committee members - the day was a big impact! THANK YOU!

The class learned that the greater Green Bay area has some challenges, however, there are so many vested in helping make a difference. The Class of 2020 also helped by collecting items for NWTC Career Closet and UWGB Caring Closet.

The class had the opportunity to hear Linda Maxwell, Class of 2012, Race Director for Bellin, share her leadership journey.

The poverty simulation allowed people to be exposed to challenges for individuals and family who are less fortunate. Navigating the systems is not easy and truly is a "part-time job" as some shared.

Learning from CASA about children who need mentors to help them through some very difficult situations.Human Trafficking - it is here in Brown County as are Drugs - keep your eyes and ears open and share the tips with law enforcement so they can follow-up.

Soooo many different site visits - to help the class learn more about who and what non-profits are helping the people struggling in the area.
Wrapped up the day with connecting it all to The Leadership Challenge Practice: Model the Way!

Thank you to our sponsor, Bellin Health for making the Human Services session day possible!

Good morning, all. I work at the Green Bay Water Utility these days (we're the drinking water people) and we're seeking a board member for our Commission Board. This board is integral to decision-making for the utility including budgeting, operations, etc., meeting once a month at the Utility offices downtown. This is a working board, and crucial to our operations particularly as we strive to ramp up our replacement of aging infrastructure. If you'd like more information, feel free to message me via FB, send me an email at [email protected] or call (920) 785-7886. Thanks!
The Nurse's Nook wants to send a HUGE THANK YOU to Leadership Green Bay for the AWESOME donation drive hosted. These donations are greatly appreciated, and will go a long way to stock our shelves and benefit our students. We thank you so much and hope you'll keep us in mind for future drives!!
