Thank you for your questions. There are three current Federal investigations of the Brown County United Way and Greater Green Bay Labor Council, AFL-CIO. One of the three is https://www.nlrb.gov/case/18-CA-304847

Blanketing Brown County is not part of the BCUW/GGBLC blanket drive using our drive's name, a drive which you generously donated to for 10 years, because of those Federal law violations. Also see the comments and posts below. If you visit any of the companies or organizations associated with the Brown County United Way/ GGBLC blanket drive, ask them to explain their opinion on these Federal and upcoming State investigations, including issues involving former BCUW President Gregg Hetue and the BCUW Teammate Recommendations document that BCUW Attorneys and Board Members insist was created by Hetue.

I think this will be the last post of the 2021 Blanketing Brown County drive. We have sent thank you letters that will go out in tomorrow's mail to our collection sites but I wanted to post the letter for the rest of you who don't receive it. Thank you so very much for donating and for our record drive collecting and distributing over 3500 items to a record tying 42 programs.

Dear

On behalf of the organizers of the 2021 Blanketing Brown County Drive, Brown County United Way and Greater Green Bay Labor Council Commuity Services Committee, thank you very much for being a collection site for the drive this year.

This year’s drive collected and distributed a record 3515 items. Most of the items were blankets, but also included other items such as sleeping bags, hats, mittens and boots that helped keep Brown County individuals and families warm this winter. We continued to receive donations until last week.

The donations were distributed to a record tying 42 programs with the largest recipients being the New Community Shelter, 6 programs of the Green Bay Area Public School District (GBAPSD), 7 programs of Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin, Howe Community Resource Center, and St. John Homeless Shelter.

The complete list of programs receiving blankets and other bedding items is:

We All Rise

We were amazed by our county’s generosity. At a time when most charitable activities saw a downturn in donations because of COVID 19, our drive experienced a record year. Without generous participation like yours, the drive would not have been able to help as many people as it did this winter.

Again, thank you very much for your contributions to help meet the needs of homeless and low-income families in Brown County.

Sincerely yours,

Dan Wadle

With our distribution of 80 blankets to We All Rise, we have one last scheduled distribution and that is 15 that are being taken to the Green Bay Southwest HS caring closest. We still have donations being generously made and we have a few programs that will accept additional blankets. Once again thank you so much to Brown County and Northeast Wisconsin for our record year.

Our distributions continue to Giving Tree Pantry, WIC, more to Family Services and Family and Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin.

02/15/2021

Thank you very much to Mark Cherney and Norb Brice for delivering blankets today in subzero wind chill temperatures. Norb delivered to Green Bay East and West High School Caring Closets, Howard-Suamico School District Homeless Student Program, Lombardi Middle School Caring Closet and Green Bay School District Head Start. Mark and his brother Tim distributed to the DePere High and Middle School Caring Closets, Ashwaubenon High and Parkview Middle School Caring Closets, First United Methodist Goodwill Pantry and Transformation House. And with a drumroll with our distributions today we have surpassed last year's final total on February 15th. Without your very generous support and the great help from our volunteers, we couldn't have done this. We will hit 3,000+ this year making this one of the drive's two best years. We have more scheduled distributions for the rest of this week. Our distributed program total is at 28.

02/09/2021

Today the drive with our additional distributions to Family Services of NE Wisconsin and Howe Community Resource Center surpassed 2000 blankets distributed. I think we are still looking at near 3000 that will be distributed.

02/05/2021

Thank you to Blossoms and All Saints Catholic School in Denmark for being collection sites this year. Those were the last two collection sites we picked up. All Saints collected 50 and Blossoms pictured below over 100.

02/02/2021

Thank you to the volunteers who picked up blankets and collection boxes today. We have two more sites to pick up on Friday. As I mentioned we had some companies who usually host collection sites not do so this year because of people working from home. Those accounted for in a typical year 25-30% of our drive's numbers. But this year we saw as high of donations at public collection sites like Fleet Farm, Brown County Library branches, YMCA locations and Pomp's Tire as we have ever seen before and we had our highest numbers at Humana and Pomp's Corporate Office. I think it is possible we had our second best year ever when the final numbers are tallied. Thank you to all of you who generously donated.

01/30/2021

Thank you to everyone for your generous donations. The drive ends Monday. We have distributed over 1400 blankets and other bedding items so far. I am projecting we will have a typical year for blanket numbers in spite of COVID and in spite of the loss of one large internal collection site because their employees are working from home and some smaller internal collection sites. We have had tremendous public collection site numbers and some new collection sites this year. Thank you to Mark Pirlot for all of his work on the drive. We couldn't do this without him. Volunteers will be bringing boxes in on Tuesday for the most part, a few sites will be after Tuesday. Over $600 has been donated through the Brown County United Way website. Last year we used donated monies to purchase fabric to make fleece blankets through the BCUW's volunteer engagement program and plan to do so again.

01/24/2021

Thank you to everyone for your generous donations so far. We had expected COVID to effect this year's collection and it has not. We have seen large numbers at public collection sites like the Fleet Farm stores, Brown County Library branches, YMCA's and Pomp's Tire. We have distributed over 1,000 items so far including to Encompass Childcare, Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin programs, GBAPSD McKinney-Vento, Howe Community Resource Center, Love Life, New Community Shelter and St John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter.

We continue to have great early numbers. Pickups at Green Bay Metro Fire's Fireman's Park and West Point Road, YMCA in Howard and both Fleet Farm stores. I was afraid COVID would hurt but so far the numbers have been like our best past years.

01/08/2021

Thank you to the local media for the great coverage of the drive and thank you to Amanda Johnson of Howe Community Resource Center, Elizabeth Webb of the GBAPSD, Tana Koss of Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin and Jack Mellberg of NEW Community Shelter for participating in the kickoff event.

We have began with over 200 blankets in these past two days. Filled boxes at both Fleet Farm stores, YMCA in Howard and Allouez, Pomps on West Mason, Brown County's Weyers-Hilliard Library Branch in Howard.

We have an additional public collection site Blossoms located in Denmark.

Thank you so much for your great work!

Julie Russell, (left), of the WPS office in Green Bay and her sister, Shelly Deterville, braved the elements this weekend to collect blankets and food for those in need.

The event was for WPS employees in conjunction with the Blanketing Brown County Blanket Drive. The donated blankets will be distributed to programs and organizations that serve homeless and low-income adults and children. The project is a joint effort of the Brown County United Way and the Greater Green Bay Labor Council.

The event also collected non-perishable food items for Paul's Pantry, which relies entirely on local support to provide food to those in need.

Blanketing Brown County

Dan Wadle

Thank you to Ron Bergstrom, Donovan Jurss (Happy birthday buddy!), Steve McFarlane, Mark Pirlot, Jim Ridderbush, and Tony Vanderbloemen for picking up collection boxes Tuesday Night and yesterday. Better weather than the blizzard we faced in 2013. We had approximately 600 more in the boxes and there are a couple collection sites which indicated more donations are still coming. Since we usually have additional donations come in for a couple weeks after the drive ends, we'll have a final number to announce at that point but we surpassed this year's goal because of your generous donations.

With our additional distributions to Howe Community Resource Center, the drive has distributed over 3000 blankets and other bedding items this year. The drive has never surpassed 3000 before and we couldn't have done this without your generous support.
More distributions this morning to Ascension Lutheran Church's Home Sweet Home Mary Daley, top, and UWGB Student Services' Stacy Christian, bottom.
Today we distributed to NWTC Student Services, Shirley Zepnick is shown below, and Disability Rights of Wisconsin. We have three more tomorrow and hopefully will have some additional pictures.
Our distributions continue to Giving Tree Pantry, WIC, more to Family Services and Family and Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin.
Today the drive with our additional distributions to Family Services of NE Wisconsin and Howe Community Resource Center surpassed 2000 blankets distributed. I think we are still looking at near 3000 that will be distributed.
Thank you to Blossoms and All Saints Catholic School in Denmark for being collection sites this year. Those were the last two collection sites we picked up. All Saints collected 50 and Blossoms pictured below over 100.
