In the early 2000s, liquid asphalt was a regular commodity imported to the Port of Green Bay. Liquid asphalt is a sticky, black liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. Most of the asphalt used today for paving comes from petroleum crude oil – it’s what is left after all the volatile, light portions are extracted for products like gasoline.
