Our community has many pedestrians year round, and they can be harder to see in the winter months. Please do your part as a driver to keep an active eye out for those walking, and do your part as a pedestrian to be visible by walking and crossing in designated areas. 🚶‍♀️

Modern zoning laws make your Christmas Village illegal

A little festive zoning humor 🎄🏡☃️

You may think your miniature Christmas Village is a quaint tribute to the building traditions of yesteryear. However, its walkable, mixed-use, architecturally diverse layout is a flagrant violation of modern zoning laws and an affront to the single-family development ascendancy.

Check out this article highlighting a great Green Bay company, Carnivore Meat Company. In less than a year, the City of Green Bay worked with Carnivore Meat Company to complete an environmental review of their property, conduct a wetland delineation, complete a land division, establish a Planned Unit Development zoning district, negotiate a development agreement including TIF assistance, approve of site and building plans, and sell them the property for their new corporate headquarters.

We’re proud to have this Green Bay company choose to invest and expand here, and to have them as the anchor tenant for the City’s new Grandview Industrial Park.

Staff attended the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) Conference this past month along with other municipalities, housing developers, property managers, and lending partners from across the state. The WHEDA conference provided staff the opportunity to expand their knowledge of current housing trends, learn about innovative practices, and meet with affordable housing developers to share development opportunities within the City of Green Bay. Thank you Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) for organizing a great conference and congratulations on 50 years!

Throwback Thursday! We still believe that Good Neighbors make Great Neighborhoods! 🏡

“Good Neighbors make Great Neighborhoods”

We at DCED believe that one of Green Bay’s best attributes is its neighborhoods. Over the years, Green Bay has hosted numerous leaders from all over Wisconsin to share with them the great work you and the Neighborhood Associations of Green Bay are doing to make our neighborhoods the best around. And what makes our neighborhoods great? You and others like you who care about where they live and their fellow neighbor.

Thank you for being such good neighbors! In celebration, check out our new billboard at the corner of Pine and Monroe. If you would like to learn more about neighborhood associations or how to make a difference in your neighborhood, call 448-3150.

Good Neighbor Week is important to CEDD for many reasons, but mostly that it embodies one of our missions as a department: connecting people. The week is all about encouraging people to be good to each other and lending a helping hand when possible. Our staff helped with a project yesterday, doing landscaping and lot clean up. Looking for ideas on how you can participate? Check this out: https://www.nwgreenbay.org/good-neighbor-week/

Mark your calendar for this Thursday for the City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department's Winter Wonderland Lighting Ceremony at Colburn Park!

This event is a perfect example of what Wintermission, a Wello and City of Green Bay Community & Economic Development partnership, aims to do - connect people and places for well-being during the winter months. This initiative aims to do this by promoting projects that focus on warmth, movement, and in this case, lighting to encourage residents to enjoy winter and take care of their well-being during the colder months.
Thank you for the feature, City of Green Bay Community & Economic Development.

We are proud to be constructing our new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Curious about the Green Bay Conservation Corps? Have questions for City staff? Come see us TOMORROW at the Farmer's Market on Washington Street. Staff from City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department and City of Green Bay Community & Economic Development will be present to answer your questions.
📅 Volunteers will help us complete single-day home repair projects for Green Bay homeowners in need. In collaboration with Green Bay Neighborhoods, the individual Neighborhood Associations, and the City of Green Bay Community & Economic Development, these repairs will be made at no charge to the homeowners. Let's make an impact in our neighborhoods. Individuals, organizations, nonprofit groups and corporate personnel are all encouraged to volunteer. More information to come! We hope you were able to stop by today at our table at the City of Green Bay Government Kids' Day! Congratulations to the City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department for another great year of this city-wide event!

And thank you to all that shared your thoughts with us and the City of Green Bay Community & Economic Development for our Wintermission project which aims to make it easier to connect people and places during the winter months. Your feedback will help shape some of the ways we can create a more enjoyable experience for all during the winter. (Thank you for going to a colder place mentally to share your feedback on this warm summer day!)
Hello Green Bay Community! Join us Saturday, July 23 for a community unity block party! There will be free food, games, music and tons of fun! Great way to connect to the Green Bay Police Department as well as some of our community leaders. Hope to see you their!
Last week I visited the historic city of Richmond, VA for the National Main Street Conference. I had the opportunity to spend a few days with the former director of the City of Green Bay Community & Economic Development, Kevin Vonck.

It's always nice to catch up with a former colleague who understands how local government in Wisconsin works, but also has the experience from a different city/state and how alternative ideas can be applied to solve our most pressing challenges. We're not alone in how we manage cities and when you visit other communities you quickly learn that whatever the problem is we're trying to address, somebody else has probably solved it already.

Thanks for the personal tour, Kevin! Glad to see you are doing well and making an impact in your new home.

Included are images with commentary with my thoughts about how it relates back to Green Bay. Read each photo caption for more info.
