APPLETON CLINIC IS OPEN: Fox Valley Veterans, our clinic in Appleton is open in the wake of Monday's devastating storms. All of our normal services are available. 🎉 What an incredible day at the 16th Annual VA2K Walk & Roll – Green Bay! 🎉
Today, Wednesday, May 20, we came together at the Milo C. Huempfner VA Health Care Center for our annual 2K Walk & Roll, and Green Bay showed up in a BIG way!
This event is about so much more than walking 1.24 miles — it's about honoring the men and women who sacrificed so much to give us the freedoms we enjoy today. To every Veteran out there: THANK YOU. We get to do what we do because of YOU.

🙌 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made today possible:
🏛️ City of Green Bay – We were honored to have our Mayor here to celebrate with us and show support for our Veterans and VA staff.
🚔🚒 Green Bay Police & Fire Departments – Thank you for coming out and standing alongside our Veterans and community.
🍕 Green Bay - Ashwaubenon VFW Post 2037 – Your generosity made sure everyone was fed! Thank you for purchasing the pizza from Little Caesars on Mason and Main. Your continued support of our Veterans means everything.
🍦 Ice Cream Truck – You were a hit! Nothing brings a smile like ice cream on a beautiful May day.
🏥 The Vet Centers – Thank you for being here and bringing the Mobile Vet Center.
🌟 All of our local community organizations who came out to table and support — your presence shows what it means to be a community that cares for its Veterans.
🎶 Music, door prizes, a wellness & resource fair, and so much more — today had it all, and it wouldn't have happened without our amazing volunteer committee and VA staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

The VA2K Walk & Roll is presented by the Employee Whole Health Program and encourages Veterans and VA staff to live healthier, more active lives — while also supporting homeless Veterans through donations of hygiene items, cleaning supplies, and monetary contributions.

Green Bay VA Medication Take Back Day

Members of the public can dispose of expired or unused medications, including controlled substances, at select VA facilities, on Take Back Days.

Zablocki VA Health Care System will hold Medication Take Back Day events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 24, at the Green Bay VA Clinic, 2851 University Ave., front entrance.

The public can drive through at the facility entrance to receive a pre-paid envelope used to dispose of medications through the U.S. postal service. They can also park and dispose of medications in the secure disposal receptacles at each facility.

VA is aligned with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for this initiative. Any member of the public is welcome, whether they have any affiliation to Veterans or not.

“We are pleased to welcome our community to the VA facilities for VA Medication Take Back Day again,” said Milwaukee VA Police Chief Martin Runge. “It is important to clean out our medicine cabinets regularly and dispose of old or unused prescriptions in this safe and secure manner.”

The Dispose of Unused Medications and Prescription (DUMP) Opioids Act requires VA to establish designated time periods when Veterans and non-Veterans can dispose of opioids and other controlled substances and medications at covered VA facilities. A covered facility is a VA medical facility with an onsite pharmacy and/or a physical location dedicated for law enforcement purposes.

Member of the public who can’t participate in VA’s Take Back Days can use DOJ’s Public Disposal Locations Search Tool to find year-round collection sites.

Veterans enrolled for VA care can bring their expired and unused medications to their VA site of care for disposal at any time by contacting their local VA Police Service or VA Pharmacy.

DEA holds two Take Back Days a year, on the last Saturdays of April and October.

Join us, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 20 for VA's 2K Walk & Roll event!

This is a free, self-paced, two-kilometer (1.24 miles) walk. This event is open to Veterans and employees.

The annual VA2K event encourages people to live active lifestyles and allows participants to support homeless Veterans through voluntary donations of cleaning items, storage containers or monetary donations. The VA2K Walk & Roll event is presented by the Employee Whole Health Program and inspires Veterans and VA Staff to live healthier lifestyles and reduce preventable injuries and illnesses.

• The Walk & Roll 2K (1.24 miles) can be completed at any time on May 20. The mapped walking route is around the Milo C. Huempfner VA Health Care Center.
• Veteran and wellness resource fair
• Free food for participants (while supplies last) donated by Green Bay - Ashwaubenon VFW Post 2037
• Free door prize drawing for participants
• Live music from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Homeless program donations will be accepted. Suggested items: Hygiene items and cleaning supplies

GREEN BAY, CLEVELAND, APPLETON CLINICS CLOSED ON MONDAY, MARCH 16: Due to a winter storm, the VA clinics in Green Bay, Appleton and Cleveland will be closed on Monday, March 16. This is out of an abundance of caution for our Veterans, as the National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the area, advising that travel will be "near impossible." Veterans with appointments will be contacted for rescheduling.

Today we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Leonardo da Vinci School to the Milo C. Huempfner VA Health Care Center 💙🇺🇸

These amazing students came out to thank our Veterans for their service, and they didn’t come empty-handed, cookies, pretzels, lemonade, and most importantly, big smiles and heartfelt thanks were generously shared.

Moments like this remind us how powerful a simple “thank you” can be. The kindness, respect, and appreciation shown today meant more than words can say to the Veterans we serve.

To the students and staff of Leonardo da Vinci School: thank you for taking the time to give back, to learn, and to show our Veterans they are remembered and appreciated. You made our day brighter!
