This year, 4th grade students took part in an exciting two-part Career Exploration Project that has become a favorite yearly tradition in Mrs. Hilario’s classroom!
The adventure began with the Pen Pal Project, where students were paired with real professionals from all kinds of careers. Throughout the project, students exchanged letters with pilots, engineers, TV writers, scientists, graphic designers, social workers, doctors, firefighters, and many more! Students loved asking questions and learning what it’s really like to work in these careers—from daily responsibilities to education requirements and even fun stories and experiences from the job.
The excitement continued with Career Day! Each student chose a career to research and became a “career expert.” They explored important facts about their profession, created colorful informational posters, and prepared presentations to teach others about what they learned.
To wrap up the project, students proudly shared their work with elementary students and their families during Career Day. The room was filled with creativity, curiosity, and confidence as students stepped into the role of teachers and presenters.
This special yearly project not only helps students build research, writing, and presentation skills, but also encourages them to dream big, explore new possibilities, and start thinking about their future careers in a fun and meaningful way!
