As volunteers who regularly work alongside CSP on Highway 24, we get to know and appreciate the people behind the badge—not just the uniform.

We are grateful for the work they do and the risks they take to serve our communities.

Another small fire along 24 today. Again we saw amazing local residents putting them self at risk prior to our arrival.

Our volunteers hit hotspot and stayed on scene until it was safe.

Thanks to our partners at Cascade Volunteer Fire Department for their aid.

There is a lot of smoke pushing into our area from Utah and Oregon/Washington fires. Please do not call 911 for the smell of smoke or haze. If you see active flames or a plume of smoke please call 911!

Today vs. Yesterday

GMFCP Fire responded this evening to a smoke investigation in Crystola. After arriving on scene and deploying our department drone, a small fire was located along a ridge north of Highway 24. We are grateful for the assistant from
Cascade Volunteer Fire Department, NE Teller County Fire Protection District, EPC Sheriff's Office Wildfire Team and the U.S. Forest Service - PSICC National Forest. The fire was turned over to the USFS.

We are also grateful for the numerous homeowners who hiked up the ridge and controlled the fire until resources arrived.
