It's a beautiful morning for being up early!! I dont think the community of Green Mountain has seen a fraction of this many people since its Centennial in 1983.Thank you to the GM RAGBRAI committee for the opportunity. Thank you to the riders and vendors who took a chance with our small town and stopped in. Special thanks to the Green Mountain organizers for all their hard work.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE!

The 100 block of Green Mountain Road in town is closed to all traffic. All traffic coming into town will have to enter via Woolston or Green Mountain Road off of 170th Street until further notice due to sewer project construction.

We have been informed that Marshall County has closed the 2800 mile of Garwin Rd. Allowing the ITC crews to work .

The area experienced a strong thunderstorm early this morning. Many broken trees and down limbs. The airport reported approx. 90 mph winds, and I have also heard 93 mph. The one notable situation is from the Collison golf course corner east about 1/2 mile along Garwin Rd. I counted 14 downed poles in the field. ITC had a truck on site when I drove by. Expect crews to begin working in that area over the next couple of days. Stay safe!

Our former Fire Chief stepped away from his volunteer service back in Jan. 2021 after a diagnosis of cancer. His name has been placed on the Iowa Firefighter Memorial Wall during Sunday's memorial service. Thanks to Joseph Cornwell for the video.

🚒👩‍🚒👨‍🚒Happy International Firefighter's Day to All! Today we take extra time to tell Firefighters "thank you", for their time or service. We are passing this along to all our mutual Marshall County firefighters and our mutual aid firefighters in neighboring counties!
It takes a special person to be a Firefighter, as it is a calling and you are always a firefighter once you start.
We are also remembering our past and lost whether it be from on the job, disease or age. Hopefully, we learned from them, and their stories are told to the new firefighters.
So, enjoy your day; it's windy here so nobody say the "Q" word!🤫😆🚒👩‍🚒👨‍🚒
