We are incredibly excited to announce that the Sweetwater Combined Communications Center recipient for the 2026 Dispatch Hall of Fame is Dispatcher Val Gelinas!

Below is an excerpt from the nomination submitted by her peers, which really says it all...

"For Hall of Fame 2026, we nominate Val Gelinas. Val's contribution to this field is defined by her unwavering commitment to both the mission and the people behind it. She has been a dispatcher for various agencies for over 30 years and has dedicated her life to this profession.

During her 37 years as a dispatcher, Val has been active in APCO, holding several offices, has served on both the CISM and Peer Support Teams, and is currently our Peer Support Coordinator. She has always been an advocate for mental health and is always there to offer support and guidance whenever someone needs a person to talk to. In addition, Val is our contact for NCMEC and is a CTO.

Val is very dependable, reliable and always willing to cover shifts or provide overtime coverage when needed. She is a huge asset to this agency and is deserving of a place in the Hall of Fame."

Val was honored with a surprise ceremony last night that included a special visit by her family!

We were so pleasantly surprised today when our friends from Walmart Rock Springs stopped by dispatch with snack bags and personalized thank you cards. It’s not every day that the "voices behind the headset" get a shout-out, and these thoughtful gestures truly mean the world to us.Being the first point of contact in an emergency can be a high-pressure job, but knowing our community stands behind us makes it all worth it. Thank you for thinking of us—we appreciate your support more than words can say! 🎧✨

Last week, Dispatchers Odom and Hook joined Executive Director Erskine in Las Vegas for the annual IAED Navigator conference. The week was spent taking in educational sessions, networking with fellow public safety communications professionals, talking to vendors, and learning about new dispatch technologies! Our team is always proud to represent SCCJPB no matter where we go!

As NPSTW 2026 comes to an end, all of us at SCC want to thank the communities of Rock Springs, Green River and Sweetwater County along with all our amazing fellow first responder friends for all the kind words, well wishes, thoughtful gifts and delicious food you've graced us with throughout the past week. You're the reason we're here and we couldn't imagine doing anything else other than helping keep our communities safe and secure! Just as you've been here for us, we'll always be here for you, 24/7/365. We truly do love our community!

Tonight, we held our annual NPSTW Dispatch Awards Ceremony and Snack Banquet! We had a great turnout, some awesome snacks, beautiful decorations, an impromptu hula show and a fantastic time honoring our own!

We recognized Dispatchers Chantell Bolton and Mersadee Odom for reaching 5 years of service, Dispatcher Anji Hook for reaching her 10 year milestone, and Operations Manager Carrie Williams for achieving 25 dedicated years serving the community! Congratulations to all! 🥳
