UPDATE - UNION WIRELESS 911 CALL MISROUTING

July 27, 2026 - As of 4 pm, Union Wireless has advised that the issue with 911 calls being misrouted has been addressed, tested and confirmed to be resolved.

Union Wireless customers may return to dialing 911 for emergencies as normal.

No further updates are expected at this time.

UNION WIRELESS 911 CALL MISROUTING

We have been made aware that Union Wireless is experiencing a system-wide service interruption impacting routing capabilities for 911 calls.

When dialing 911, Union Wireless customers are being routed to the Union Wireless service provider call center then transferred back to our dispatch center via our administrative lines.

Since we aren't receiving these 911 calls directly, we are also not receiving the location information that traditionally accompanies 911 calls.

For Union Wireless customers who need to reach dispatch with an emergency, please call one of our non-emergent administrative lines below:

*Please note* You will need to provide accurate location information when placing calls via our administrative lines.

This service interruption ONLY impacts Union Wireless customers. No other service providers are experiencing or have reported experiencing any system issues currently.

It is presently unknown when Union Wireless began experiencing these issues and there is no estimate of service restoration at this time.

Updates will be provided as we learn more.

💛🖤💛🖤 The Sweetwater Combined Communications Center would like to give a huge shout out to our newest, fresh-out-of-training employees, Patricia "Tricia" Foster and Madison "Maddie" Levene! 💛🖤💛🖤

Hired on November 10th, 2025, these two dedicated ladies have been working tirelessly on the floor, training for both call taker and radio dispatch roles. 🎧🎧 They just completed all 4 intensive phases of training—totaling an incredible 1,422 hours of hard work! They both will attend the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in the spring of 2027.

Tricia and Maddie, thank you for your commitment to keeping Sweetwater County safe. We are so proud to have you on the team and fully on the floor💛🖤

RESOLUTION NO. 2026-07-CC-03

ORDER ESTABLISHING STAGE 1 FIRE RESTRICTION

WHEREAS, an extreme fire danger exists throughout Sweetwater County created by current and projected weather conditions, dry vegetation, and wildland fires on federal, state, and private lands; and

WHEREAS, the Sweetwater County Fire Warden has recommended, and the Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) have recognized that fire control measures in Sweetwater County are necessary and proper for the period provided herein; and

WHEREAS, Wyoming Statute §35-9-301 authorizes the board of county commissioners under the above-identified conditions to close the given area of the county to any form of use by the public or limit such use, which shall include the prohibition of any type of open fire for such periods of time as determined by the BOCC; and

WHEREAS, "Unimproved areas'' pursuant to the Board of Land Commissioners Rules, Chapter 9, Section 2(b), “means the fire restriction area shall include all county and private lands within the restricting County except lands within the incorporated cities and towns.”

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT pursuant to Wyoming Statute §35-9-301, the Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners authorize that all outdoor fires and open flames be prohibited in the unimproved areas of Sweetwater County, Wyoming, except as set forth below:

The following terms shall govern fire restrictions, prohibitions, and allowable activities in the unincorporated areas of Sweetwater County, Wyoming:

• Campfires are permitted with an approved fire ring or pit with a screen that blocks sparks (1/4” mesh) and are located within a cleared area fifteen (15) feet in radius.
• Charcoal fires are permitted within fully closed grills.
• Use of acetylene cutting torches or electric arc welders are permitted in cleared areas fifteen (15) feet in radius, subject to a pressurized chemical fire extinguisher being immediately available.
• Propane or open fire branding activities are permitted in cleared areas fifteen (15) feet in radius, if accompanied with a pressurized chemical fire extinguisher that is immediately available.
• Discharge of fireworks are prohibited except as authorized by written approval by the BOCC or the County Fire Warden.
• All other planned burning, open burning or outdoor fires including those identified above are prohibited except as authorized through an approved permit by the County Fire Warden.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Order shall begin on July 10, 2026, and end August 7, 2026, unless temporarily lifted or reimposed by the BOCC.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Fire Warden shall provide a copy of this Fire Restriction Resolution to the County Sheriff, State Land Commissioners, Bureau of Land Management, and the Wyoming State Forester.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to Wyoming Statute §35-9-304, any person violating this resolution on state or private properties that fall under the jurisdiction of Sweetwater County shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00) or imprisonment in the county jail not to exceed thirty (30) days, or both the fine and imprisonment.

Today, as we celebrate 250 years of freedom, we pause to remember all those who gave their lives so that we may be free and proud to call ourselves Americans.

We celebrate and honor our brothers and sisters in the United States military serving stateside and abroad, as well as our public safety brothers and sisters serving our communities and keeping us safe right here at home.

Let us not forget the message sent 250 years ago when our nation's founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence: freedom isn't free, but it is worth fighting for. It is not a privilege for the few, but a right for all.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Congratulations to Dispatch Trainee Maddie Levene on recently receiving recognition for exceptional performance from the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office!

As Maddie approaches the end of her training program, she has consistently embodied the spirit and drive that we search for in each other every day. This recognition serves as a reminder that Maddie has all the tools necessary to not only be a successful dispatcher, but to be a valuable credit and asset to the greater public safety team in Sweetwater County for many years to come!
